Michaelmas term ends on a high

School News December 15, 2017

House Unison is a key event for all leading independent schools in the United Kingdom and WAIS is no exception. On Friday 15 December, all secondary pupils from eight houses (Austen, Blake, Cavell, Dove, Elgar, Newton, Scott and Turner) participated in the first inter-house competition this year. Each house presented two musical items - one song sang in unison by all pupils and another song performed in parts by a smaller group.

The overall standard of performance was high, and all houses worked hard on producing an engaging spectacle for our parents to watch. This year’s event was adjudicated by the Headmaster, the Second Master and the Director of Music. After a long deliberation, the winners were announced by the Headmaster. Many congratulations to Scott House for The Best Boy House Award and Dove House for The Best Girl House and The Overall Winner.

The end-of-term event concluded with a School Unison featuring all secondary pupils singing “Seasons of Love” from the Broadway Musical “Rent”. The vocal soloists were G. Sanzaro (Year 9) and A. Xie (Pre A).
