On Friday 4th December, all pupils at WASCZ Primary had the opportunity to put the weeks and weeks of practice of all their songs, dance moves, and instrumental practice to good use as they performed a fantastic medley of songs as part of the Christmas Performance 2020....
Last week, the Primary Junior Choir, supported by the Secondary String Quartet, performed at two hotels in Changzhou – the Sheraton Hotel in Xinbei and the Hilton Hotel in Wujin, as part of their Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremonies....
At the weekend seventeen Primary pupils registered to compete in the Michaelmas Term Fencing competition. The competition was open to all pupils who have been learning fencing as a paid ECA this term. Mr Chen and the coaches have worked incredibly hard with the children on their skills. Footwork is such an important part of fencing and it was wonderful to see the boys and girls working backwards in defence and forwards in attack so effortlessly. It was also wonderful to see children from Grade 1 all the way through to Grade 5 competing....
On Sunday, Primary Tennis players from Grades 1 to Grade 5 took part in a school wide tennis competition, taking place in the air dome. Keen to put into practice what they had been learning in ECA over the course of the term, all pupils competed against their peers, with G1-2 (Junior), Grade 3 (Intermediate) and G4-5 (Senior) competitions taking place....

Last week must have been a memorable one for the Lobsters. After learning about "Our school" in our Moral Education lesson, teachers and pupils in Lobster decided to walk around the WASCZ campus to do something that would make the campus a better place....
Over the last couple of weeks, Piranha class have been looking at the book "Where the wild things are". It is a fantastic story to get the children to talk about their imaginations, dreams, feelings, and emotions. The story takes you into Max's imaginary world, after being sent to his bedroom for being too wild. We see Max sail to a new land of wild things feel happy and wild to him being sad and missing home. The story really got the children talking....

Last weekend, a group of fencers from across the Primary school, from Grade 1 to Grade 5, took part in a fencing competition organized at Global Harbour in Xinbei....

There was no better way to start school after the November half term break, than with one of the most awaited and exciting events of the year - the “Blue Fountain Book Fair “ that took place from November 11th to Nov 13th 2020. On Wednesday morning this week, the Tuna Fish pupils in Mr. Aydon's class were introduced to a very long word that they had not encountered before: 'responsibility'. The class then had an open discussion about whose responsibility it is to perform various daily tasks in the children's lives, for example, 'washing the dishes', 'marking my homework' or 'packing my school bag'. From the perspective of the children it seemed that most of these responsibilities could be classified as either a) my responsibility, b) my parents' responsibility or c) my teachers' responsibility....

The Barracuda class in Primary have been very busy over the past couple of weeks, as they have been learning about healthy food and its benefit on our bodies. We started our work by learning the names of fruits and vegetables, then later in class they created two plates: one containing healthy food and one containing their favourite food in their English books and discussing why they made those choices. The best part of this project was making yummy salads and smoothies in our class and getting to taste them....

The children in Kindergarten are now back in the full swing of lessons and activities. Playing sport and being active is an important part of the school day here at Wycombe Abbey. It encourages children to exercise, challenge themselves and others and develop important physical and mental skills. Though this year has seen difficulties and hardship, our pupils at Wycombe Abbey School Changzhou have achieved the best IGCSE results in the School’s history, with another 100% pass rate in all subjects....
As we come to the conclusion of the ‘Summer Sports Course’, it has been wonderful to reflect on a hugely successful 4 weeks in which children has been exposed to around 15 individual and team-based sports, as well as being taught English daily through a variety of teaching methods....
Wycombe Abbey pupils are celebrating their A Level results and their world-class university destinations, having achieved truly outstanding results....
It was another fun and successful week on the Summer Sports Course with a number of new pupils joining us from both Changzhou and Nanjing. Once again, we added a new selection of sports which included Dodgeball and complex disciplines from Athletics (High Jump and Shot Putt). Numbers for the week were just shy of 60, which enabled staff to provide more 1 to 1 support during both the sporting activities and English classes....
Following the success of the first week, the Summer Sports Course continued to go from strength to strength during the second week. Pupil numbers were still in excess of 75 for the second week and they were treated to an even greater number of sports, which included all those learnt during week 1, with the addition of archery, cricket, rounders and ultimate frisbee....
History has been made this past week with the inaugural sports summer course which has been led by Ben Wood (Deputy Head Pastoral), Sam Thurgood (Housemaster) and ably supported by a strong cohort of the schools sporting staff, including the Headmaster of Wycombe Abbey School, David Griffiths....
On Tuesday 7th July 2020 our KG3 children had their transition morning into Primary school. We had lots of smiles and excited children all day and they especially loved the treats at the end....

On the last day before the Dragon Boat festival, all the Primary School children descended on the field for the annual summer term water fight. Mr. Wood, having explained the rules of the water fight, with each house having a safe section and area to refill their water guns, set things off with a whilst before the fun started!...
When it was announced earlier in the year that the school would not be re-opening after the Easter holiday, the children and parents of 3P Penguins Class realized that, amongst many other blows, one was that the costumes that had been bought for our Assembly ‘Aladdin’ may never see the light of day and never be worn on stage. The children had been preparing the Assembly for several weeks, so the school closure hit our class particularly hard....
The children have all settled back into school life and are continuing to make memories with their teachers and friends....
The athletics track and grandstand was the venue this past Friday 12th June for the Primary School’s Annual Sports Awards and BBQ. On a baking hot day, all of the children who have been involved in our rugby, netball, and football training squads and matches this year were invited to attend to celebrate all the hard work they have put in throughout the year....
Blue Whales are currently reading the exciting book Grandad’s Secret Giant by David Litchfield. The children are currently up to the section of the story where the main character is recalling a tragic thunderstorm....
When we lose rainforests, we lose an important natural resource. Tropical rainforests are hubs of biodiversity, holding an estimated half of the world’s plants and animals. Grade 5C explored rainforests of the world in our Topic lessons. This was an amazing opportunity to get creative and explore the world of rainforests....
