Primary Girls’ Football getting better and better!

This past Saturday, the U11 Primary Girls made the trip to Shanghai for another football tournament at SUIS Hongqiao, along with Mr. Bryant and Miss Zhang.

The first match was against SUIS Pudong. It was a closely fought game with a few chances. The girls battled bravely and the team defended well until there was a misunderstanding between the GK and the defence that allowed the opposition to get in between and score.

From the restart, the girls did not drop their heads, and created an excellent opportunity but were unable to score. There were many positives from the game however the focus for the next game was to keep a clean sheet.

Final Score – WAIS 0-1 SUIS Pudong

The second game was against SUIS HQ. Both teams were evenly matched. WAISCZ managed to cancel out the play makers from the other team and started to find more space and went close on several occasions, however the girls were unable to find the back of the net.

Final Score – WAIS 0-0 SUIS Hongqiao

In the final game, a playoff game for third place, WAISCZ came up against YK PAO. The girls played with more confidence and managed to overcome their opponents 1-0, thanks to an own goal.  Once again, a fantastic defensive display denied YK PAO any real scoring opportunities. The girls ended the tournament with many positives especially the defence who have only conceded one goal in six matches now over the past two tournaments.

Final Score – WAIS 1-0 YK Pao

Once again, Mr. Bryant was extremely proud of the girls for how they battled on the pitch and equally how they conducted themselves off it. Results are improving with every passing tournament for the girls. Great job!
