WAIS Primary plays first ever netball fixtures!

This past weekend, WAIS Primary took both Under 11 and Under 9 squads to the British International School, Puxi (BISS) for the school’s first ever competitive netball fixtures.

Mr. Gaffney travelled with the Under 11s teams, and Mr. Bryant travelled with the Under 9s teams.

Netball Under 9’s Match Report:

The girls were playing their first ever netball competition at the British International School, Shanghai. The school were able to enter two teams into the competition, such is the depth of skill and talent at our disposal at WAIS in our younger years.  Matches took place versus Dulwich College, Suzhou (DCSZ) and Harrow International School, Shanghai (HISS).

Everyone played really well and the teams won all their games – an incredible achievement!  The girls and boys were modest in victory but obviously very pleased to have won their matches.   There is still much for them to learn but with continued passion and determination the girls and boys have the potential to develop into a very good team.  I am looking forward to working with the team again in their next competition after the Spring Festival break. Well done for the great  performance. WAIS pupils all performed admirably and showed excellent sportsmanship throughout.

Netball – Under 11’s Match Report:

In a friendly competition, two WAIS teams competed in two games each.  It was a great experience for the girls, who had not played together before.  It was a daunting task playing against such able and experienced teams.  However, our WAIS girls performed really well.  Although we did not win our games, we showed great skill and movement across the court, something that the girls had been working so hard on over the past few weeks and months at school.  Shooting in such tall netball posts was very tricky, so we will be spending lots of time practicing ready for the next tournament after Spring Festival! Well done girls!
