Happy Children’s Day in Primary

Children’s Day, an important day in the school calendar, was marked in a host of fun ways this past Friday at school, with children taking part in sporting activities throughout the day, as well as fun classroom based projects too.

The highlight for many was the delicious array of cakes on sale – many pupils (and parents) put in a lot of effort into making some excellent cakes and biscuits, and they were flying off the shelves throughout the day! Ms. Qureshi’s henna tattoo stand also proved extremely popular.

As well as being able to enjoy all of the yummy food, there was a serious element to the bake sale too – as all the money raised will be donated to one of the school’s charities – the Changzhou Orphanage. After a sterling effort from the Grade 5s who were manning the cake stalls for most of the day, just over 11,000元 was raised, which will make a huge difference in many lives at the orphanage.

At lunchtime, a special Children’s Day meal was laid on for the pupils, with (even more) cakes, duck pancakes, biscuits, salads and meats made available, and there was even lego toys given out as part of the celebration!

Overall, a great day of fun in Primary – next year’s Children’s Day can’t come soon enough!
