2019 Changzhou Fencing Competition Success

From the end of the 19th Century fencing competitions around the world were dominated by French and Italian fencers. Pupils from Wycombe Abbey showed just as much dominance in their latest fencing battles.

The 2019 fencing championship for Primary and Secondary school pupils in Changzhou was a great success. There were 42 teams and more than 300 participants competing for gold medals in foil, epee, sabre within various age groups.

In this competition, there were 15 participants from Wycombe Abbey competing. Overall, we won 2 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze as well as receiving a 5th, 7th and 8th place. A very successful weekend for our fencing pupils. We look forward to higher achievements at the year progresses.

The overall results are as follows:

U8 Girls Foil Individual winner: V. Zhang

U12 Boys Epee team winner: O. Zhong, A. Yuan, T. Liu

U10 Boys Epee team runner-up: T. Chen, I. Xiao, J. Wang

U12 Boys Epee Individual third place: A. Yuan 

U12 Girls Epee Individual third place: M. Meng
