WASCZ Primary Fencing Competition

At the weekend seventeen Primary pupils registered to compete in the Michaelmas Term Fencing competition. The competition was open to all pupils who have been learning fencing as a paid ECA this term. Mr Chen and the coaches have worked incredibly hard with the children on their skills. Footwork is such an important part of fencing and it was wonderful to see the boys and girls working backwards in defence and forwards in attack so effortlessly. It was also wonderful to see children from Grade 1 all the way through to Grade 5 competing.

Congratulations to M. Liu in Grade 2, who was crowned champion of the Grade 1 – 3 competition and to T. Chen in Grade 4 who won the Grade 4 and 5 competition. T. Chen had a thrilling final duel with I. Xiao where he narrowly won despite both scoring some great points.

All fencers did incredibly well and we are looking forward to the next competition next term.
