Summer Term House Sports - Netball

On May 12 and May 14, all pupils in Grades 3-5 took part in the summer term’s house sports competition. Having learnt the rules and worked on the skills needed for the games during PE lessons this term, the games that would be played by the boys and girls would be touch rugby and netball respectively.

Grade 3 - Netball

Over 30 girls participated in the Netball competition. Before the competition started, teachers had a briefing with the pupils to explain the rules, introduce the umpires and explain the importance of sportsmanship. It has been wonderful to see how much the Grade 5s confidence has improved and they really showed this as they umpired and refereed the Grade 3 matches.

Well done to the Grade 5s who officiated:

T. Chen, D. Ye, J. Li, Y. Wu, Neve Mayell-Middleton and Hermione Stevens-Barry.

We played the high-five format, which meant everyone played five matches, all of which were 10 minutes long. The skills and game play improved throughout the competition and there were lots of goals being scored at the end of the competition.

Congratulations to Blyton House who won four of their matches and drew one.

Also, huge congratulations to E. Pan who was awarded the Player of the Tournament and to I.Oh who was awarded the Sportsmanship award for being modest and positive throughout.

A further well done to A. Han who scored 10 goals throughout the competition to finish as top scorer.

Grade 4 - Netball

In the Grade 4 competition, congratulations to Cavell who won four of their matches and drew one.

Also, huge congratulations to A. Zou who was awarded the Player of the Tournament and to S. Wang who was awarded the Sportsmanship award for keeping up her positive attitude and showing great resilience during the tournament.

A further well done to A. Zou who scored 12 goals throughout the competition to finish as top scorer.

What a wonderful tournament and very well done to all of the girls who took part!

Grade 5 – Netball

The Grade 5 tournament saw a competition featuring girls who had been playing netball for a number of years in school, and the skill level on show was clear to see.

The girl’s hit the court and each one played their very best. We were all so impressed with the excellent standard being played including Mr Griffiths who came to watch. He remarked on not only the amazing play but also the great sense of sportsmanship and collaboration between all teams. The girls all tried their best in each game and worked hard to boost everyone’s confidence. They should be so proud of themselves.

Congratulations to Dove House who won four of their matches and drew one.

Also, huge congratulations to C. Oh who was awarded the Player of the Tournament for her consistent active play in both attacking and defensive positions and to E. Zhang who was awarded the Sportsmanship award for being positive throughout even when her team were suffering losses. She rallied her team and kept pushing.

Well done also to top scorers T. Chen and S. Gao who scored twenty goals reach throughout the competition.
