Primary Rugby Training returns at WASCZ

This Thursday saw the return of junior rugby training for the U9 and U11 teams on the field at WASCZ.

With many of the Under 11 team having been involved with rugby for a number of years, the more experienced players set a great example of teamwork and communication for the newer players as they practiced under the watchful eye of the Under 11 coach for this season, Mr. Gray, alongside Senior Rugby Coach Mr. Uili, as well as WASCZ Director of Rugby, Mr. Thurgood.

The Under 9s, this season taken by Mr. Jacobs and Miss Nascimento, new PE Teacher at WASCZ and also ex-Brazil 7s Rugby Womens Team Manager, got their first taste of a rugby training session, with a focus on fun and learning the basics of passing backwards, running forwards and evading contact.

Regular sessions will look to be set up for the team in the coming weeks ahead, with a trip to Wycombe Abbey, Hangzhou for a selected squad to take part in training and intra-school matches in October, with the full junior season, COVID dependent, scheduled to start in January.

With football trials and fixtures coming up in the coming weeks too, as well as netball training still to begin, there is plenty of sport to look forward to this term at WASCZ Primary!
