A friendly game of Ultimate Frisbee took place on Saturday 4th March. 11 staff members took on the challenge of playing against our young and talented student team. This sport has become very popular within Wycombe Abbey School thanks to our staff and student Frisbee leaders. Mr Valera gathered our Frisbee team together last semester and this has developed into a student lead session every Sunday morning with over 20 students involved in the sport.
Our Staff versus Student Frisbee competition showed great levels of sportsmanship and resilience from both teams. The students put on a tough performance for our staff which showed early in the match as our students took a rapid lead of 5-0 within the first 5 minutes. After a few tactical substitutions the staff regrouped and came back stronger jumping ahead of the students with a 6-5 score at half time.
As the play continued into the second half the students resolved to take back control of the game. It was a great display of teamwork and perseverance from our students - this was wonderful to witness! The second half was a battle that continued to go back and forth exchanging leads and displaying great plays. However, it was the staff that took the final lead with a hard fought 12-11 victory.
It was an amazing afternoon shared with the students and staff and we look forward to more ‘Origins of Staff versus Student’ events schedule for the remainder of the year.
