World Book Day

School News March 01, 2018

World Book Day, on Thursday 1st March, heralded two weeks celebrating books and reading in the Secondary Library.

The theme was Share a Story, with an emphasis on Magical Fiction

Hundreds of pupils were Sorted, by our Sorting Hat, into Hogwarts Houses. There were a host of Harry Potter tasks to complete and take away, including a writing competition which encouraged pupils to create their own Harry Potter Character, and a Spell Writing task (pupils were not allowed to cast spells on fellow pupils or teachers!). There was also the chance to ‘stick the scar on Harry Potter’, which resulted in some unusual pictures!

In addition, we aim to make the longest Share a Story Bunting in China, by pupils sharing their own book recommendations on a story rope.

From the 7th to the 9th of March OBIDO will be providing their Book Fair, and celebrations will finish with a visit by author, Sarah Brennan, who will meet all Year 7 pupils on March 12th.
