The team from Wycombe Abbey International School World Scholar’s Cup teams competed in the Global Round in Melbourne from August 16th to 22nd having qualifying through the Shanghai Regional Round. The team had a great showing winning medals and advancing to the final stage of the competition, The Tournament of Champions, held at Yale University in November.
The team of three consisted of G. Huster, H. Wen, and C. Guo. All three competed in many events including debating, essay writing, and tests on a wide-ranging curriculum. This year’s theme was an Entangled World and its curriculum included topics such as diplomacy and cryptocurrency. Over 1600 competitors came to the Melbourne global round from countries around the world.
Particularly noteworthy successes include G. Huster winning 1st place in the History Subject Challenge, 3rd in overall Subject Challenges, and 36th as Champion Scholar. H. Wen won 57th place in Debate, and the team won 14th in the Team Challenge and 52nd in the Team Bowl. A complete list of results is below.
