Swimming Gala Success

Wycombe Abbey swim squad enjoyed a great day out when they entered a gala last weekend.

The primary and secondary swimmers were up early at 5am for the Shanghai School Sports Association event and were well prepared thanks to lots of team training with their coaches this term. Bad weather and traffic didn’t deter the WAIS swimmers.

In the 50m breaststroke for Primary, J. Jiang was a heat winner and H. Feng swam excellently. For the butterfly and backstroke A. Xu, L. Wu and L. Yang represented WAIS with the exciting 50m freestyle. Talented athlete N. Zhang stepped up an age group to compete against secondary swimmers with C. Shang also recording a good time having shown superb enthusiasm by joining a local swim club to train and improve her skills. Also representing primary was Y. Kawasaki, who is showing real potential for the future.

Secondary swimmers G. Jin, C. Monticelli and C. Ford are new additions to WAIS swim team and their learning and growth was evident by their commendable efforts. N. Wang and L. Yang both gave solid performances and demonstrated experience by winning their heats. In addition, E. Liu and H. Ding for the seniors put in fine performances. Congratulations go to all the swimmers and a thanks to the parents who came to support.
