Jiangsu Hockey Captain joins Wycombe Abbey PE Department

School News January 16, 2019

Wycombe Abbey is delighted to welcome a highly experienced new member to its PE department. Former professional hockey player Jamie Wu of Wuxi has joined the Physical Education Department in January. Having started her sports career aged 16 as a player for Wuxi U18 Ladies Hockey it was not long until she progressed into the Jiangsu Ladies team.

As a professional athlete for over a decade, Jamie has a wealth of knowledge having played and toured in various countries including Argentina, Japan and Korea. An attacking midfielder, Jamie scored plenty of goals during her playing career before switching to a more creative role.

A delighted Jamie said: ‘I am very happy to be here at Wycombe Abbey. It has a very good atmosphere and the pupils are great. I look forward to helping them develop their skills and enjoy their sports.’

Morgan Blundell (Head of ICT) had some fantastic news this week, when he found out his daughter Jenna will represent Great Britain for Athletics. Jenna secured third place in the national U20 women’s pentathlon. This is a tough event that needs expertise across five different aspects of athletics. The WAIS community will keep a close eye on Jenna’s career and wish her all the best for her next event.
