Over the last five days Mr Nils Klöfver, Head of Guitar from WAIS music department, have been on a concert tour to Darwin, Australia. Alongside being dedicated to teaching and sharing their knowledge, teachers in the WAIS music department are also active performing musicians. This time it was his turn to venture abroad to share his music.
The concert programme included famous guitar classics such as Cavatina and Requerdos de la Alhambra but also the intricate works of J.S. Bach and Agustin Barrios Mangoré’s atmospheric ‘La Catedral’. Mr Klöfver received such a warm welcome and the audience’s response after the concert was really humbling.
When Mr Klöfver was asked about what was next in his calendar and many assumed a continuing tour Mr Klöfver proudly explained that he was going back to his position as head of guitar at WAIS. As a school with an exceptional music learning environment it really allows for all our young aspiring musicians to grow and develop their own voice; inspired by concert visits and masterclasses - mentored through performances, ensemble playing and supporting skills. Leading by example Mr Klöfver hope he can create even more enthusiasm for music and show how it can be a fulfilling way of exploring the world.
