WAIS Staff Trip to the UK - Rosslyn Park and Designated Safeguarding Lead Course

School News April 08, 2019

Over the Qing Ming Holidays, four senior members of WAIS staff, Mr. Griffiths (Headmaster), Mr. Jacobs (Head of Primary), Mr. Wood (Primary Deputy Head – Pastoral), and Mr. Thurgood (Director of Rugby), travelled to the U.K. and were a presence on behalf of the school at the Rosslyn Park National Schools Rugby 7s tournament, the premier schools rugby competition in the world.

With over 1800 teams competing from schools in the U.K. and around the world, the tournament provides a fantastic opportunity for rugby playing pupils to showcase their skills on the biggest stage.

As part of the school’s continued drive to deliver world-class holistic education, WAIS plans to enter the first Chinese team into the tournament in 2020, with the build up to this continuing with a rugby and netball tour to Beijing at the end of May this year.

In addition to Rosslyn Park, Mr. Jacobs and Mr. Wood through the week took part in a “Designated Safeguarding Lead” course in London. Both Mr. Jacobs and Mr. Wood take an important role in the school in regards safeguarding of our pupils, and this development course will further consolidate our safeguarding standards throughout the school.
