John Muir Award Offered at WASCZ

School News September 12, 2019

We are delighted to announce that we are the first school in China to be given permission to offer the John Muir Award to our pupils.

The John Muir Award is named after John Muir, who is famous for exploring the wilderness of the USA. He was one of the first people to call for the protection of the environment and his efforts led to the establishment of National Parks in America.

The John Muir Award is designed for young people to learn about the environment. It has four parts: Discover a wild place; Explore it; Conserve it and then Share the experience. We are excited about what this means for our pupils and the opportunities taking part in this award represent. Offering the John Muir Award builds on our already strong Outdoor Adventurous Activity programme. Currently we offer expeditions to the UK and Iceland, SCUBA diving in Thailand and Skiing in Europe.

We look forward to sharing updates on this exciting development over the course of the year.
