Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional festival in China, which contains a long and profound cultural connotation.
To further carry forward the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation and enrich the connotation of festival culture, the teachers of Chinese department in secondary of Wycombe Abbey Changzhou carried out an activity with the theme of "making sachets skillfully " on June 5, which enriched the pupils' spiritual and cultural life.
"lu man man qi xiu yuan xi, wu jiang shang xia er qiu suo." This poem comes from the timeless masterpiece Li Sao written by Qu Yuan, China's greatest romantic and patriotic poet. Lu Xun praised Qu Yuan: "Yi xiang wei ci, outstanding world." Legend has it that Qu Yuan, a poet of the State of Chu during the Warring States Period, drowned himself in the Miluo River on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. Later, the Dragon Boat Festival is commemorated to commemorate Qu Yuan.
“liu hua jiao li dou shi xin, jin ri shui jia jiu bu zun””kan xiao jiang hu zu feng ke,que sui hao ye shang zhu men.” This ancient poem describes the customs at that time when people celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival. Around the Dragon Boat Festival, people not only eat zongzi and insert mugwort leaves, but also bring sachet for children.
The sachets are made of brocade, also known as jin sachets or jin xiang sacks, sachets, xiang yingles, pewters and odors, etc. Nowadays, they are called hebao, shuahuozi and chuchu. They were usually fastened to a belt around the waist or under the elbows, but also on a bed tent or chariot. The contents of these bags have been changed several times, from sweat sucking clam powder, exorcism talisman, copper coin, insect repellent realgar powder to perfume sachets. The production is becoming more and more exquisite and has become a unique art of the Dragon Boat Festival.
In this activity, pupils make sachets by themselves and watch videos about the lively Dragon Boat Show and happy food banquet at the Dragon Boat Festival. It not only enriches the pupils' traditional Chinese culture knowledge, but also trains their patriotic feelings, and makes pupils feel the joy of success through their own labor, so that they can fully understand the cultural customs and connotation of the Dragon Boat Festival, at the same time, they can also feel the ancient Chinese civilization.
