David Aitchison
Executive Head of School
He has a PGCE in Applied Science, an MA in International Education and the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) and is working towards an Educational Doctorate (EdD). With over 21 years of teaching and management experience as a teacher and headmaster in the UK, South Korea and Thailand, Mr Aitchison will lead WASCZ to deepen its community and reach new heights of excellence in education, drawing on his outstanding leadership, extensive experience, academic learning and cultural awareness.
Qinghao Kan
Chinese Head of School
With 48 years of educational experience and rich experience in school management, he has served as headmaster in many primary schools, chaired provincial education research projects for many times, and published dozens of papers in educational journals at the provincial level and nationally, with his work covering a wide range of aspects, including school management, education supervision, and family education guidance. With the educational philosophy of 'eaching for growth, educating for the future, and doing warm education', he is committed to realising a new pattern of high-quality development of education in WASCZ.
Kaihe Chen
Chinese Head of Upper School
Graduated from the College of Law and Politics of Anhui Normal University, he has 40 years of education and teaching experience and a wealth of school management experience, and was a member of the 14th CPPCC of Changzhou. He has presided over or participated in national and provincial education research projects, and published dozens of papers in journals above the provincial level and national Chinese core journals."Every child is unique. Jonathan Fan
Assistant Head of Development & History (Chinese) Teacher & Chinese Curriculum Director of Upper School
He has a Master's Degree from Sichuan University and has been teaching atWASCZ for over 7 years. He is committed to guiding students towards the path of self-realisationand through the concerted efforts of all teachers and students, he has built WASCZ into a vibrant, loving and intelligent place, laying a solid foundation for the future success of his students.
Victoria Hany
Executive Head of Lower School
She has a BA(Hons) in the Nottingham Trent University and a PGCE in the University of Sunderland. With over 20 years of experience teaching the British National Curriculum in the UK, Egypt and Qatar, and as a mother of a 15 year old boy, she has a deep empathy for education and is committed to helping her students achieve physical well-being, a sense of belonging in their minds, and a sense of academic fulfilment at WASCZ.
Lila Qi
Chinese Head of Lower School
Over the past 17 years, she has been immersed in the front-line teaching position, twice awarded the title of ‘Outstanding Class Teacher in Primary and Secondary Schools’ by the Education Bureau, continuously exploring the combination of localisation and internalisation of education, adhering to the educational philosophy of ‘Teach love, teach wisdom, teach success’, and faithfully fulfilling the sacred duty of a teacher to contribute to the growth of her students.
Helen Benaglia-Wood
Executive Head of Kindergarten
She has an MA in Educational Leadership from the University of Exeter, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the Hong Kong Institute of Education. With almost 15 years of teaching experience in Hong Kong, She has a deep understanding of WASCZ philosophy of holistic education, and the combination of exceptional professional competence and cross-cultural understanding enables her to excel in delivering British education in a Chinese context.
Zhengrong Liu
Chinese Head of Kindergarten
As a head of kindergarten for decades, she has rich experience in kindergarten education and has excelled in both theory and practice. She has always adhered to the educational philosophy of 'child-centredness' to ensure children's safety and happiness, and has emphasised the playfulness and life-oriented nature of kindergarten curricula, formulating curricula that are in line with children's age and physical and mental health.
Ralf de Bos
Deputy Headmaster (Pastoral) & Head of ESL and IELTS
He graduated from Wageningen University and a former IELTS examiner and has been teaching at WASCZ for 12 years. He believes that building trust with students is the key to being a good teacher. He believes that a teacher is not only to preach and teach, but also to solve problems and help students to solve problems in their lives. "Being able to share ups and downs with others is, I feel, the best way to create a lasting bond with someone and I am always ready to join my students in pursuing their interests, be they athletic, musical, artistic or academic."
David Fosu
Deputy Head (Community) & Teacher of Economics
He graduated with an LLB in Law and an MSc in International Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Responsible for staff training and appraisal, he has multiple experience of working in the corporate legal and education sectors. Over ten years of teaching and management experience in the education sector, leading summer camps at universities including London School of Economics and Political Science and University College London, and developing an alumni programme in partnership with King's College London.
Jonathan Barry
Deputy Head of Whole school (Extension)& Teacher of Chemistry
BSc (Hons) in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the University of Natal, with 15 years of experience in education in China and the UK. This experience has given him deep insights into the application process, the challenges students face, and the strategies needed for success. He is well-versed in the university application process, from selecting courses and universities to staying current with the latest trends and requirements for various programs.
