Message from Headmaster

Dear Parents,
The Wycombe Abbey Schools’ global family is entering an exciting new chapter, and we are pleased to announce a key appointment at Wycombe Abbey School Changzhou.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Matthew Jamieson as our Executive Headmaster. This broadens what we can offer our children and strengthens our position as a beacon in holistic education in the region.
Matthew joins us from Sherborne School, where he served as Acting Headmaster. His career has taken him through three of British independent education’s most respected institutions: Sherborne, Brighton College, and Bedford School. At each, he built a reputation for academic rigour alongside strong pastoral care. As Assistant Head at Brighton College, he helped guide a period of significant growth in boarding. As Housemaster at Bedford School, he learned what it takes to support young people academically, pastorally, and personally.
Outside the classroom, Matthew brings a breadth that we hope your children will draw on. He is a former junior international hockey player and a long-distance runner. He has led a team of fifty to Everest Base Camp. He is equally at home discussing current affairs and business, or losing himself in opera and classical music.
Matthew was educated on a scholarship at Millfield School and read History at the University of Birmingham. He is currently completing an Executive MBA at the University of East London.
In Matthew’s own words: “I am incredibly excited to join Wycombe Abbey School Changzhou as Executive Headmaster. The school’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic education resonates deeply with my values, and I look forward to working with the talented team to further build a nurturing and inspiring environment for all pupils.”
Please join us in welcoming him to the school, and to the wider Wycombe Abbey global family.
Yours sincerely,
WAS Group Management Committee
