In the recent inter-school WAS basketball league, our U19 teams showcased resilience, determination, and teamwork by bringing home both the boys’ and girls’ championship titles in this highly competitive event.
Girls’ Championship Journey:
Game 1:
WAS Changzhou 20 – 14 WAS Hangzhou
Our girls faced a tough opening match against Hangzhou, who surged ahead with six baskets in the first quarter. Despite this early setback, our girls displayed incredible tenacity and a never-give-up attitude. With the bench players keeping us in the game, the starting five took control in the final quarter, hitting crucial shots to secure the win. Their resilience was truly inspiring.
- Z. Sha dominated inside, supported brilliantly by S. Allington.
- A. Yang caused chaos for the opposition, with R. Ursu, K. Pike, and J. Zheng showing excellent dribbling.
Game 2:
WAS Changzhou 20 – 15 WAS Nanjing
The second game was less tense, with the girls taking control early and never looking back. Their ball movement and teamwork shone through, leading to a convincing victory.
- J. Van, E. Hodges, K. Pike, and S. Allington displayed fantastic passing skills, making accurate passes throughout the game, demonstrating determination from their relentless pursuit of the ball.
Boys’ Championship Journey:
Game 1:
WAS Changzhou 51 – 31 WAS Hangzhou
The boys dominated their first game from the start, showcasing excellent shooting, teamwork, and defensive plays.
Game 2:
WAS Changzhou 40 – 25 WAS Nanjing
The second game continued the momentum, with every player contributing to the win. The team’s passing and ball movement were a joy to watch, showcasing the strength of their unity and teamwork.
- Standout performances from J. Jiang, J. Akordor, J. Jiang, L. Chen, and J. Tao, with strong support from M. Cao, J. Jiang, B. Hu, J. Yan, F. Qian, and S. Yang, ensured a comprehensive team effort across both games.
The WASCZ U19 teams displayed exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination, bringing pride to our school. Congratulations to all players and coaches for a successful championship!
