Every day begins with either a Reading session or discussion with the teacher. There are 6 lessons, each between 40-50 mins long, two breaks and snack times and an early afternoon sleep time. The children have a varied ECA programme (daily) and English Story time at the end of the day. The week ends with an Assembly.
We are one of the few schools in China that has both international and local Chinese pupils studying side-by-side in the same classroom. In our global classrooms, we combine the best of both British and Chinese National Curriculums. Our pupils do not just build strong foundations of their own language and culture, they also develop a broad set of skills that benefit them for life.
Pupils are regularly assessed on their social, pastoral, emotional and academic development, with the key factor being their ability in all areas of English – reading, writing, speaking and listening.
Each morning there is a reading session, three in English and two in Chinese. The day ends with English Story Time. There are two breaks each day (with snacks) and 6 lessons , each of 40 minutes and one ECA/Sport session.
At the end of the week there is Assembly which provides an opportunity to praise and reward the children.
Creativity, enquiry based learning and discussion are key components of the curriculum.
Children are recognised for talent and potential in all areas of their learning - academic, artistic, sporting and social development.
Children are taught English and Chinese (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening), Mathematics (British and Jiangsu), Science, Global Topics (a blend of History and Geography) Chinese Culture, Computer Science, Music, Art, PE, Sport and Moral Education/PSHE.
