“Achieving a perfect score on prestigious academic competitions such as AMC is a rare and admirable feat,” said Mr Fielden, the Assistant Head (Extension) of WASCZ. “A student who achieves a perfect score answers every question correctly under significant time pressure. This can only be done after spending a significant amount of time studying and developing their skills under expert tutelage.”
Ms Ding, the Head of Maths Faculty for Lower School, also expressed her pride in the students’ performance: “I am extremely proud of our students for their outstanding performance in the AMC 8 competition. Their success reflects their mathematical abilities, perseverance, and enthusiasm for learning.” As a dedicated teacher at WASCZ for six years, she added, “With their talent and determination, I am confident they will achieve even greater accomplishments in their academic journey. Keep up the excellent work!”
Those students who scored in the Top 1% and Top 5% worldwide can be extremely proud of their impressive achievement. It demonstrates that a student has not only mastered the core concepts of mathematics relevant to their age range but also has excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to think critically under time pressure. At WASCZ, mathematics learning and competition participation go far beyond academic progress — they are also key to personal growth. As V. Zhang, who placed in the global top 1%, shared: “Studying maths has taught me how to solve real-life problems. The English-medium curriculum and competitions have helped me develop my mathematical thinking and cross-disciplinary application skills.”
Meanwhile, receiving the School Honor Roll for all three of the AMC 8, AMC 10, and AMC 12, is a great testament to the strength of the school’s mathematics program. The School Honor Roll is awarded to schools with several students achieving exceptional scores in the AMC exams. Earning any one of these awards demonstrates a culture of academic excellence, with dedicated teachers, a challenging curriculum, and students who are motivated to excel. Earning all three in one year is an even greater achievement, highlighting the opportunities available to students across all grades at WASCZ.
Let’s give a round of applause to these brilliant young mathematicians once again! Every award earned by our WASCZ students is a shining testament to the school’s commitment to holistic education. With passion, perseverance, and purpose, we will continue to empower every learner to pursue academic excellence, embrace global opportunities, and grow into confident, capable individuals ready to make their mark on the world.
