Graduation Ceremony
As June comes to a close, it marks the conclusion of one chapter and the beginning of a new journey.
On 14 June, the WASCZ Class of 2025 gathered to celebrate their graduation. With a legacy of outstanding achievements, they have completed a remarkable chapter of youth and are now preparing to set sail towards new beginnings across the globe.
Their academic results have put them in a prime position to shape their futures, having received over 280 offers from top universities around the world so far.
According to QS rankings for comprehensive universities, all our students received offers from the world’s top 100 institutions;
80% received offers from the top 50 institutions; and 39% received offers from the top 20. Our globally-renowned graduate destinations include Imperial College London, the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, University College London, the University of Melbourne, the University of Sydney, the University of Toronto, New York University, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
For admission to music and arts universities, by QS ranking, 89% of our arts graduates received offers from the world’s top 15 Art and Design institutions, while 63% of music and performing arts graduates received offers from the top 10 Music and Performing Arts institutions. Their offers and scholarships come from world-renowned institutions such as the University of the Arts London, Pratt Institute, Berklee College of Music, Royal Northern College of Music, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
This year’s graduates have pursued an impressively diverse range of academic disciplines, spanning the natural sciences, engineering, business, psychology, media, design and music. From aerospace engineering to interactive design, from law to hospitality management, from the laboratory to the stage — each offer reflects a deep passion and unwavering commitment.
Together, these diverse pathways serve as living testaments to the power of holistic education, cultivated on the rich soil of WASCZ’s holistic learning philosophy.
In his graduation address, Executive Headmaster Mr David Aitchison delivered the students’ final lesson. He reminded them that their bags need not be filled with model answers, but with the courage to challenge the unknown, the strength to spark change, and the unwavering resolve to be unapologetically themselves:
At WASCZ, the pursuit of knowledge is woven into moments that linger in memory. Some have turned the glow of the laboratory into their own constellation of discovery; others have rowed through morning mist on the boathouse docks, chasing rhythm and resolve; still others have captured the colours of autumn with a brush on canvas, translating emotion into art.
Among them, international scholar students M. Slotema and C. Poulton, who are heading to the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, respectively, found both academic inspiration and the thrill of rowing during their time here. J. Wang, bound for Imperial College London, spent six years here as a boarder, forging deep friendships and lasting memories. Music graduate M. Qu, after eight transformative years of growth at Wycombe Abbey, is now set to continue her artistic journey at Berklee College of Music, following the sound of her dreams.
As Z. Sha, Class of 2025 Head Prefect, reflected in her graduation speech:
“As a film student, I have always seen a person as a movie in progress. I believe our lives in WASCZ must be the most impassioned and memorable clip in each. ”
Standing on the threshold of graduation, students look back at moments that now shimmer like film stills: the spark of collaboration in group projects, the fierce determination on the sports field, the courage found under stage lights, the laughter beneath cherry blossoms in full bloom… These fragments, stitched together, form the highlight reel of their time at WASCZ.
Though not every detail will remain vivid in memory, these experiences etched into their hearts will resurface quietly in their futures: in moments of doubt during late-night reflection, in the weight of an important decision, or in solitude far from home. And when they do, they will become a silent yet steadfast force, illuminating the path ahead, reminding them of who they are, where they began, and why they journey on.
Congratulations to the Class of 2025. You now step into a world full of wonder and possibility. May you carry with you the calm resolve and sense of responsibility shaped at WASCZ, along with the courage, confidence and passion to embrace every mountain and ocean that awaits you.
