Jason, a remarkable student, demonstrated consistent
Jason, a remarkable student, demonstrated consistent excellence by achieving 4A* grades, a dazzling accomplishment in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology. Among his achievements, in the physics examination comprised of six units totaling 600 points, he secured a total of 599 points, thus powerfully unlocking the gateway to Cambridge University’s realm of natural sciences.
With immense passion for biology and physics, Jason approaches every endeavor with an innate focus and dedication. However, he transcends the boundaries of textbooks and classrooms, proving himself to be more than just a virtuoso of the sciences. Since fearlessly embracing the full boarding life at WASCZ, he has delved into music theory and composition, showcased his skills in classical guitar recital, engaged in activities such as rowing, rugby, and tennis, and enthusiastically participated in various pursuits like the Duke of Edinburgh Award, diving, and hiking expeditions. His rich and multifaceted inner world truly encapsulates the spirit of a “hexagonal warrior.”
A. Yang, 2A*3A
Imperial College
Biological Science
Since her introduction to the world of biology in the G7, Annie embarked on a journey fueled by a fervent passion. She ventured into research projects involving biological genetic engineering and bacterial cultivation at esteemed institutions such as Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and Chinese Academy of Sciences. “Anything you’re interested in, you should try it. If you don’t try, you’ll never know if you like it or if you’re good at it.”
“Within the environment of WASCZ, I can relax a bit and plan and organize my studies and life.” Even in the demanding sixth form, burdened by academic pursuits and university applications, Annie persisted in her love for artistic creation. With unwavering dedication, she achieved A* grades in biology and mathematics, as well as A grades in chemistry, Chinese, and art, securing her admission to Imperial College London for further studies.
I. Wang, 1A*3A
University College London
Architectural & Interdisciplinary Studies
“In my point of view, architecture is a highly comprehensive discipline. It’s both rational and infused with certain aesthetic aspects from the humanities,” Isabella remarked. With outstanding achievements in A* Art, A Mathematics, A Physics, and A Chinese, Isabella is set to embark on a journey to study architecture & interdisciplinary at University College London.
“My portfolio is quite innovative. Each project is interdisciplinary, where architecture combines with physics, and interior design merges with psychology or philosophy,” Isabella explained. Since she joined WASCZ in G9, she has spent enriching four years here. “The school’s E&X courses offer a wide and interesting array of options. In sixth form, I chose 3D printing course and acquired software skills, which I also applied for my university applications. I’m currently self-learning some Rhino modeling software. Whether I become an architect or an interior designer in the future, I don’t want to limit myself.”
University of Manchester
Biomedical Sciences
During the COVID-19 pandemic, witnessing the suffering of loved ones from illness inspired Flynn to develop a strong commitment to pursue a career in medicine. With grades of A* in Mathematics, A in Biology, A in Chemistry, and B in Geography, he successfully achieved his dream of studying Biomedical Sciences at the University of Manchester.
In his leisure time, he enjoys reading research papers and academic journals. He has his own unique approach: he first skims through the Chinese version, and if interested, delves into the English version for a more thorough understanding. Flynn’s life at WASCZ is enriched by the company of dedicated teachers and supportive friends. He has submitted assignments in the early hours of the morning and received prompt and thoughtful feedback from his teachers. With like-minded friends, they exchange thoughts after reading their favorite books, expanding their horizons together. “This atmosphere gives me a strong sense of belonging, something I never experienced in my previous school.”
Excellent A Level results are not just about the numbers. To attain excellence, it requires a balanced approach that encompasses both academics and well-being. Our holistic education at WASCZ equips students with the skills, effective time management, and strategies for a triumphant journey. As we celebrate their achievements, let us also recognise the teachers, families, and support that contribute to their success.
We now wish our graduates every future success as they continue their educational journeys around the world. We also remind them that they are members of our global alumni network and forever members of the WAS Community.
