This summer, the campus facilities upgrade and transformation, personally led by Headmaster Dr Paul Silverwood, is in full swing. An enchanting kindergarten garden for forest education, dedicated laboratories for engineering design and technology courses, expanded art and music studios, brand new dance and drama classrooms—just one glance is enough to set your heart aflutter.
Embracing the philosophy of “soul” design held by Headmaster Dr. Paul Silverwood, stepping through the school gates signifies embarking on a journey that could span three to six years or even longer in this boarding campus. We aim to break the confines of sterile architectural boundaries and ensure that “growth” truly happens in every corner. Students live and learn here, and amidst the verdant campus, they not only thrive but also rejuvenate after serious classes and discussions, gaining fresh energy in every nook and cranny.
KG Garden
Farewell to the familiar Pumpkin Gate and Slide Castle, this land is undergoing a remarkable transformation into a forest, garden, and farm, infused with a new identity beyond mere amusement—a realm of growth.
Children will joyfully navigate between the huts, pathways, and hidden nooks, while also experiencing their “firsts” in projects like the vegetable garden, happy farm, and muddy kitchen—planting seeds, tending crops, and witnessing the journey from a seed to harvest. By observing plant growth, feeling the changing seasons, and embracing the toil and joy of labor, they will gain a profound connection to the natural world.
Moreover, the space offers climbing walls, musical installations, building areas, and reading huts where children can rest, read, and socialize.
In this natural paradise, children will intimately engage with a variety of natural materials, sparking independent thought through sensory experiences and fostering a genuine enthusiasm for active learning. This environment will enhance both their internal perceptual abilities and external cognitive capabilities, broadening their horizons.
Laboratories
In contrast to the primarily materialistic nature of “natural sciences,” the subject of “engineering technology” places a greater emphasis on solving real-world problems.
The three upcoming laboratories, soon to be completed, boast state-of-the-art design facilities: high-end desktop computers for learning Python, C++, and various forms of visual programming, 3D printers, laser cutters, woodworking benches, and more. Here, students will get hands-on experience in creating a myriad of objects, bridging interdisciplinary innovation and collaboration, and bringing to life all sorts of imaginative ideas.
From grades one to twelve, students will have the opportunity to study computer courses, ICT (Information and Communication Technology) courses, engineering design and technology courses, or engage in preparations for electronics and robotics competitions and extracurricular activities related to ecological environmental studies in this vibrant space.
Music/Art Studio
In order to cater to a broader range of students’ learning interests in music and art, we have expanded the number of music studios and art studios.
The entire third floor of Building D will now be dedicated to the Art Department, providing additional space for art classes, visual arts creation, and exhibitions. Students will have the opportunity to learn art and design courses, textile design courses, or engage in pottery and sculpture experiences in more comprehensive and improved art studios.
Dance/Drama Studios
Four dedicated dance studios and drama studios will all find their home in Building J. The design of the space cleverly considers the flexibility for individual or group use.
The dance studios feature floorings that are as smooth as mirrors, providing a non-slip, cushioned surface that allows dancers to move freely without hesitation, focusing on refining every dance movement and posture.
The black box theater brings performing arts back to the purest relationship between “people and space.” By utilizing various lighting sources, it ignites students’ boundless creativity and avant-garde spirit.
As the new school year approaches, the final touches are being put in place for various upgrades.
We eagerly anticipate the campus space, centered around the students, to organically flourish alongside them. Serving as a unique language and an inspiring key, it will quietly influence the teaching and learning within the school, the thoughts and reflections of both teachers and students, artistic and physical education, as well as holistic development. This transformation will silently enrich the school environment, opening the doors to a multitude of fresh experiences for our students.
