Bringing the Classroom into the Forest,
Letting Children Grow Through Nature
Set within WASCZ’s expansive KG Forest, nature provides the richest learning environment for our youngest learners. This summer, children stepped beyond the classroom and into the outdoors, embarking on their very first journey of learning through the forest.
「Nature as the Classroom:
Discovering the World Through Exploration」
Guided by our international teachers, children ventured into the forest to touch trees, soil and flowers, collect leaves, observe insects and experience the changing seasons. They explored the textures of bark and the growth of plants with their eyes, listened to birdsong and insects with their ears, breathed in the scents of flowers and earth, and discovered the natural world through hands-on exploration. Engaging all five senses, they began to understand the world around them while allowing their curiosity to flourish.

Building Confidence and Resilience」
Pitching tents, taking part in outdoor treasure hunts, exploring the forest and toasting marshmallows over a campfire—children became young adventurers, working together to complete a variety of exciting outdoor challenges.
Each day brought new experiences and new opportunities to grow. Careful observation of nature nurtured concentration; exploring unfamiliar environments built confidence and courage; and working alongside friends fostered teamwork and cooperation. Though the forest speaks without words, it teaches children lessons that will stay with them for years to come.
Active Through Sport: A Summer Full of Energy
Laughter as they run, encouragement as they work together—these are the sounds that define summer at KG Forest. The sports sessions are always full of energy, where children are free to move, explore and discover the confidence to say, “Let’s do it again!”
「Multi-Sport Experiences: From First Attempts to Lasting Passion」
Every day, children immerse themselves in a wide range of sporting activities, developing new skills while having fun.
In AFL Skill class, they learn how to pass, work as a team and cheer one another on. During swimming lessons, tentative splashes at the poolside gradually give way to confident kicks and joyful movement through the water, with progress visible every day. Obstacle courses, relay races and a variety of team games keep them climbing, jumping, sprinting and challenging themselves, all while discovering the pure joy of being active.

The greatest value of sport lies in the qualities it nurtures long after the games have finished. With every run, jump and challenge, children develop greater coordination and physical confidence. They learn to pick themselves up and keep going after a stumble, to communicate, share and encourage one another during team relays, and to face each new challenge with determination. Courage, resilience and self-confidence—these are the lasting gifts that sport brings, and among the most valuable lessons children take away from this summer.
Themed Learning Every Day: Language Acquired Naturally
Each day at KG Forest, children are immersed in a bilingual environment where learning happens naturally. Here, language is more than a subject—it is a tool for everyday communication, a bridge between people, and a key to exploring the world.
「Exploring a New Theme Every Day」
Every day introduces an exciting new English-themed learning adventure, transporting children into a different world of discovery—from journeys through space and explorations of the natural world to learning about calendars and the changing seasons. Within an immersive bilingual environment, children build vocabulary through interactive games, describe “My Day” in English, and sing songs about the weather. Language is woven naturally into every game, conversation and hands-on activity, making learning both meaningful and enjoyable.
「Fostering a Lifelong Love of Reading」
Whenever an international teacher opens a brightly illustrated English picture book, the children eagerly gather around to listen. Engaging stories, imaginative role play and thought-provoking questions encourage them to raise their hands with confidence, share their ideas and express their thoughts. During library sessions, children are free to choose books that spark their curiosity, immersing themselves in stories as each turned page inspires new ideas and fuels their imagination.
「Hands-On STEAM Discovery」
Building on each day’s learning theme, children also enjoy exciting daily STEAM activities that bring ideas to life. They mould colourful clay into refreshing summer drinks, paint their own dream planets, and build miniature houses in the sandpit. Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics are seamlessly integrated into these authentic, hands-on experiences, enabling children to develop creativity, logical thinking and problem-solving skills while discovering that learning can be both meaningful and fun.
This summer, every footprint left in the WASCZ KG Forest will become part of a cherished memory, as every young child grows quietly amidst nature, curiosity and care.
