Design & Technology Course
Students work in teams of ten, engaging in the full process from initial design to hands-on construction, testing, and optimisation. From creating a car’s exterior, logo, and team identity to assembling and fine-tuning a racing car, they experience how creativity and engineering work together in practice. Through this process, they gain insight into the intersection of physics, engineering, mathematics and design, and see how ideas are transformed into real-world outcomes, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm for mechanical engineering and automotive design.

Design & Technology Course
Automotive engineering is an interdisciplinary field that combines technology with aesthetics, balancing technical rigour and creativity. Adopting a design-led approach, the course introduces core concepts such as engines, mechanical systems, thermodynamics and technical drawing in a clear and accessible way. Students also explore aerodynamics, vehicle styling, logo design and team uniforms, gaining an understanding of how design works alongside engineering to achieve both functionality and visual impact.
Students are introduced to the fundamentals of automotive design and teamwork before progressing through both creative and technical stages of the project. During the design phase, teams work together to sketch the car exterior, create logo concepts and design the racing team uniform. In the practical phase, students assemble and test the car using real automotive tools, learning vehicle set-up and performance optimisation. Through teamwork, they also develop skills in communication, collaboration and problem-solving.
Today’s automotive industry places growing emphasis on design innovation and brand identity alongside technological development. In this two-week immersive programme, students explore core vehicle engineering while gaining insight into how technology and design intersect across the automotive sector. The experience broadens their understanding of mechanical engineering, industrial design and brand strategy, inspiring future study and career interests.
