The Chinese name for Wycombe Abbey ‘Wei Ya’ brings together the notions of “Wei” and “Ya”, power and elegance. ‘Wei’ means great power and reflects the hope that our students will develop both great ambition and willpower as well as the courage to face future challenges, so that they can fully explore their individual potential in pursuit of excellence; “Ya” means the elegance exhibited by “learned and virtuous scholars” in ancient Chinese literature. We expect our students to become well-rounded individuals with great learning and good conduct. We also hope they will take on the responsibility of changing the world for the better and benefiting the whole of society while pursuing their own personal goals.

WAS Changzhou
WAS Changzhou, founded in 2012, is an oasis on the banks of West Tai Lake and stands as the first sister school of the century-old Wycombe Abbey in China. Seamlessly integrating the essence of Chinese culture with global educational excellence, it was honored with the title of “International School of the Year” by the Boarding Schools’ Association in 2022.
The school emphasis not only the cultivation of outstanding academic capabilities but also the enhancement of students’ core competencies and global perspectives. Through a comprehensive range of courses and activities, including over 20 musical instruments, 30 sports activities, and 10 school expeditions, students build a solid foundation for admission to world-renowned schools and lifelong development.
Wycombe Abbey Hong Kong
WASHK opened in September 2019 and is the premier British preparatory school in Hong Kong, offering a private UK curriculum to children aged 5–13 years old. At its beautiful, co-educational preparatory campus on Hong Kong Island, the school focuses on an English holistic educational model, using the National Curriculum for England and Wales as a foundation, complemented by an exciting co-curricular activity programme as part of its normal school day. The school also offers an exceptional Chinese language and culture curriculum.
Wycombe Abbey Hangzhou
WASHZ opened in 2021. Situated in beautiful Daicun town, Xiaoshan district, Hangzhou, WASHZ lies adjacent to picturesque Xiannu (fairy) lake with a backdrop of beautiful green hills. The campus has also integrated elements of local history and culture to become a unique landmark in Xiaoshan district. The school covers an area of 33 acres with a built-up area of over 84,000 sqm. We plan to have 9 kindergarten classes, 24 primary school classes, 12 junior high and 12 senior high school classes. Furthermore, we have set aside 6 classes for future expansion. We plan to enrol a total of some 1,500 students and can offer boarding accommodation to 960 students.
Wycombe Abbey Nanjing
WASNJ opened in 2021. Located in Tangshan, Jiangning District, Nanjing, Wycombe Abbey School Nanjing is about 20 km east of the downtown area and adjacent to the picturesque Tangshan Hot Spring Resort. The school covers an area of 20 acres with a built-up area of 112,250 sqm. Students are taught in small classes, with no more than 20 students in each kindergarten class and no more than 24 in each primary and junior & senior high school class, which makes sure that each student gets sufficient attention from the teachers.Since its design and establishment, Wycombe Abbey School Nanjing has integrated the concept of holistic education into every corner of the campus. The school ensures that all its hardware facilities are in place to meet the requirements of students in learning, life and other aspects, thereby enabling them to not only develop excellent academic abilities but also moral qualities, artistic accomplishments and sports potential in an all-round way, and to become truly outstanding world citizens.
