Along the river of time, guided by our commitment to holistic education, we have journeyed towards countless shining moments– in School Honours, Academics, Enrichment and Extension, Performing Arts, and Global Community.
Now, let us unfold together WASCZ’ s 2025 tapestry of growth and achievement.
01 School Honours
March 2025
WASCZ and its sister school, Wycombe Abbey UK, were once again jointly listed in The Spear’s Index 2025, the global schools ranking published by Spear’ s magazine. WASCZ was recognised as one of the Top 23 schools in the Asia-Pacific region and received a Highly Commended rating.
April 2025
WAS International was successfully shortlisted for the 2025 Sustainability and Innovation Awards.
July 2025
Hurun Education, the international education platform under Hurun Report, released the 2025 Hurun Education Top International Schools in China. WASCZ was ranked Top 25 nationwid.
November 2025
WASCZ once again received the Outstanding Pearson School Awards 2025. In addition, four WASCZ students achieved exceptional examination results, including: World Highest Mark in IGCSE Further Mathematics and National Highest Mark in GCSE Statistics, National Highest Mark in GCSE Music, Asia Highest Mark in A Level English Language, National Highest Mark in A Level Fine Art.
02 Academic Excellence
January 2025
With the release of Oxbridge offers, two members of the Class of 2025, C. Poulton received offers from the University of Cambridge (Natural Sciences) and M. Slotema, received offers from the University of Oxford (Economics and Management). Additionally, J. Wang received an offer to study Chemistry at Imperial College London.
22 WASCZ students travelled to Foshan, Guangdong, to compete in the ASIA Business All-Star Forum and won the National Silver Award, showcasing outstanding business acumen.
WASCZ students achieved nearly 40 national and global awards across multiple international competitions, including the IBO British Biology Olympiad (Intermediate), JCCO Junior Canadian Chemistry Olympiad, SMC British Intermediate Mathematical Challenge, and the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC), earning places on gold, silver, and bronze winner lists.
March 2025
Two WASCZ teams travelled to Chengdu and excelled in the CBPA National Business Challenge, ranking within the top 20% nationwide and qualifying to represent China at the US and Global rounds.
WASCZ hosted the prestigious World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) for the first time, our students secured first and second places in the senior and junior team categories of the Changzhou regional round. They also brought home numerous individual and team gold medals in key competition sessions. A total of 20 teams from our school, a testament to their hard work and dedication, successfully advanced to the global rounds, where they will compete on the international stage.
In the same month, the 3rd WAS Top Universities Fair concluded successfully. The event brought together representatives from over 30 leading universities across the UK, USA, Canada, Europe, and Asia, alongside senior university counsellors and outstanding Class of 2025 students, providing professional guidance to hundreds of visiting families.
April 2025
In the AMC 8 Mathematics Competition, WASCZ students delivered exceptional results. Two Lower School students achieved full marks and ranked in the global top 1%, winning the Distinguished Honour Roll and Gold Award. Two further students placed in the global top 5%, receiving Honour Roll and Silver Awards. WASCZ was also awarded the School Excellence Award for outstanding team performance.
In the same month, the Lower School hosted a high-profile Science Fair. Twenty-one student teams from grade 1 to 6 presented carefully developed projects, demonstrating creativity and growth in scientific inquiry and interdisciplinary practice.
May 2025
In May, the results of the 2025 Math Kangaroo competition were officially announced. Our students have secured the prestigious Math Kangaroo Perfect Score, the National Top Gold Award (top 5% nationwide), and the National Gold Award (top 15% nationwide).
June 2025
The Class of 2025 celebrated their graduation ceremony. Graduates progressed to leading universities worldwide, including the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, University College London, the University of Melbourne, the University of Sydney, wUniversity of Toronto, and the the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, with destinations spanning the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and Hong Kong(China).
August 2025
A Level results were released, with Grade 12 students delivering outstanding outcomes. Across 19 subjects, the pass rate reached 100%. 82% of grades were A*, A, or B; 61% were A*–A; 45% of students achieved three or more A*–A grades; 27% attained straight A*–A results. These achievements enabled students to secure places at their preferred universities.
Six of WASCZ students travelled to Shenzhen to partparticipate in the World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) Global Round and delivered outstanding performances and successfully advanced to the WSC Yale Tournament of Champions.
October 2025
WASCZ students excelled in major international science competitions, including the UK Chemistry Olympiad (UKChO), Physics Bowl, British Biology Olympiad (BBO), AMC 8, and Math Kangaroo, winning dozens of national and global awards.
November 2025
Our delegation has proudly returned from the World Scholar’s Cup Tournament of Champions 2025, held at the historic Yale University in the United States — and we are delighted to share outstanding results from this year’s competition.
December 2025
WASCZ grade 6 to 9 students participated in the annual Science Fair. From human biology and astrophysics to chemical reactions and engineering design, students presented independently developed STEM projects, integrating interdisciplinary creativity and showcasing their scientific imagination.
03 Enrichment & Extension
January 2025
The Qiandao Lake Rowing Academy concluded successfully. During the week-long training programme, 18 students completed intensive training and enhanced both physical fitness and resilience, fostering perseverance and a never-give-up spirit.
March 2025
At the ISNAC international tournament in Nanjing, WASCZ U15 girls’ and boys’ volleyball teams delivered strong performances, with the boys’ team securing the bronze medal.
WASCZ Grade 8 to 9 students visited the Geely Fully Automated Automobile Factory, gaining first-hand insight into cutting-edge automotive technology and production processes, and experiencing the practical application of classroom learning.
April 2025
A group of Upper School students visited the Shanghai Astronomy Museum, to explore the history and latest developments in Chinese astrophysics, inspiring curiosity and a passion for discovery.
In the same month, the WASCZ Rowing Team made an impressive season debut at the Pinghu Masters Regatta, placing third overall among 11 teams and winning 35 gold and 10 silver medals across multiple events.
WASCZ successfully hosted the inaugural NESSIC Inter-School Football Tournament, marking a major milestone in the school’s sports development. Teams from Shanghai, Beijing, Haikou, Nanjing, and Hangzhou participated, with the WASCZ team finishing third.
At the Nanjing Basketball Championship, the U12 boys’ team and U15 girls’ team demonstrated outstanding skill, teamwork, and determination, reflecting WASCZ’s ongoing commitment to excellence in sports education.
WASCZ Fencing Team participated in the Shanghai Schools Sports League Fencing Invitational and won gold and bronze medals and received multiple “Top Ten Athlete” awards.
May 2025
The Qiandao Lake Rowing Camp concluded after nine days of intensive training. Under the guidance of championship-level coaches, 31 students embarked on a transformative journey of challenge and growth.
Four Grade 9 athletes represented WASCZ at competitions in Nanjing and Shanghai, earning a silver medal at the Shanghai Youth Rowing Open.
In the same month, 36 students participated in an inspiring study tour to Italy, tracing the footsteps of Leonardo da Vinci and gaining deeper insight into his life and legacy, as well as lasting inspiration.
July 2025
Members of WAVES launched a public welfare teaching initiative, delivering tailored English as a Second Language (ESL) programmes to rural students in Liangzhou District. In recognition of their dedication, the Changzhou Charity Foundation awarded volunteer service certificates to participants, each completing at least 13 hours of service.
In the same month, young rowers achieved strong results at the Liaoning Provincial Youth Rowing Championships. Student L. Wang met the national standard for Level II Female Athlete and successfully submitted her certification application.
September 2025
The annual WASCZ ECA Fair returned as scheduled. New activities such as horse riding and F1 in Schools captured students’ interest. More than 110 enrichment programmes across academics, sports, arts, technology, and community service were showcased, opening pathways to broader learning experiences.
October 2025
In the same month, Mr Zhang Chun, Vice President of Li Auto and PostdoctoralSupervisor at Tsinghua University’s Department of Automotive Engineering,delivered a keynote lecture titled “Intelligent Companionship” tostudents in grades 10–12, offering insights into cutting-edge technology anddeeper reflections on human values.
November 2025
Lower School students embarked on an adventurous enrichment programme. Through exploration and teamwork, they developed resilience, independence, responsibility, and confidence.
In the same month, 12 members of the WASCZ Rowing Team competed in the 2025 Mochou Lake Sprint Regatta. Despite nearly half being first-time competitors, the young team secured four silver and one bronze medal.
With the popularity of the 2025 Jiangsu Football City League continuing, two Changzhou team players, Mr Gu and Mr Guo, visited WASCZ to share their professional football experiences and engage students in an interactive penalty shoot-out.
December 2025
WASCZ students took part in a study tour to Beidahu Skiing Trip. Under professional coaching, they refined their skiing skills, challenged themselves in speed and balance, and experienced the unique appeal of winter sports.
04 Performing Arts
April 2025
The 4th WAS Cultural Festival was successfully held on campus, bringing together nearly 300 participants from 10 schools across China. Featuring almost 20 competition categories in music, dance, drama, speech, and visual arts, the festival served as a vibrant platform for artistic exchange and cultural dialogue. WASCZ students secured top three positions in chamber music, solo performance, composition, and visual arts. Grade 11 student T. Zhang claimed the overall championship of the 2025 WAS Cultural Festival, winning a major prize valued at over RMB 10,000.
May 2025
2025 annual school production, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, took to the stage with dazzling brilliance. Brought to life by over 50 students across Lower and Upper School, and supported by five academic departments, the show captivated both live and online audiences alike.
In the same month, the 2025 WAS Pops Concert was staged at Changzhou Cultural Plaza. As the largest and most influential Pops Concert to date, the event featured 74 students and over 20 teachers, delivering a sold-out musical celebration.
October 2025
The 2025–2026 House Unison was presented simultaneously in the theatre and via live stream. Under the theme of “Unity and Togetherness”, Upper School students delivered a powerful and inspiring performance, showcasing outstanding musical ability, teamwork, and collective spirit.
December 2025
Towards the end of the year, WASCZ hosted a series of outstanding campus performances, including the Wind Band Concert, Sinfonia Concert, and Winter Shows by Kindergarten and Lower School students. Through music and performance, students brought the year to a warm and memorable close.
05 Global Community
January 2025
WASCZ proudly hosted its first China Cultural Festival and celebrated its official designation as an HSK Examination Centre. The event also featured an award ceremony for the “My Study in China” Writing Competition, with winning entries vividly portraying the growth and experiences of international exchange students in China. These cross-cultural connections strengthened dialogue between cultures.
April 2025
A delegation from Minden, Germany, visited WASCZ and held in-depth discussions with the school leadership on educational philosophy, campus development, and academic achievements. Both sides expressed a shared vision for building broader platforms for international exchange. The delegation also visited the rowing programme and took part in on-water training, highly praising WASCZ’s professional facilities and coaching standards.
May 2025
WASCZ once again welcomed a delegation from its sister school, Wycombe Abbey UK, for an in-depth visit. Both schools engaged in extensive discussions on the practice of holistic education, further strengthening their academic and cultural exchange.
July 2025
The2025 WASCZ Summer School concluded successfully. The programme featured adiverse range of themes, including KG Forest School, Multi Sports, English Academy,STEM, and Rowing. Participants ranged from Kindergarten to Upper School, withinternational students from countries such as Thailand and Mongolia. Throughoutthe summer, students shared a memorable journey of learning and growth,achieving remarkable personal development.
September 2025
At the start of the 2025–2026 academic year, WASCZ welcomed its third cohort of international scholar students. Studying alongside local students, they built lasting friendships through collaboration and mutual inspiration. In the new term, WASCZ also partnered with the UK-based career development organisation ProEd to connect students with leading scholars and industry experts from top global universities.
In September, WASCZ officially launched the Saturday Elite Academy Lecture Series, inviting senior professionals, field experts, and university admissions representatives to engage directly with students. Through seminars and Q&A sessions, students gained deeper insight into global university application trends, career pathways, and employment prospects.
October 2025
WASCZ was once again honoured to welcome two delegations from Wycombe Abbey UK. The visit underscore the deepening, increasingly close partnership between the two schools, injecting renewed trust and understanding into the cross-border educational dialogue.
November 2025
The 3rd WASCZ International Family Day was warmly launched, bringing together over a thousand students, staff, parents, and community members from diverse backgrounds. Through charity sales of handmade crafts organised by the Kindergarten, Lower School, and dedicated volunteers from the WASCZ community, nearly RMB 30,000 was raised for charitable causes.
As the year draws to a close and a new chapter begins, we are delighted to share the outstanding university admissions achievements of the Class of 2026:
To date, WASCZ students have received over 190 offers from leading universities worldwide, with total scholarships approaching RMB 5.5 million. Offer holders have been admitted to prestigious institutions including the University of Oxford, University College London, the University of Melbourne, the University of Sydney, King’ s College London, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Manchester, and the University of Toronto. Study destinations span the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Hong Kong SAR. Students specialising in music and the arts have also secured multiple offers and generous scholarships from top institutions such as the University of the Arts London, Pratt Institute, the Royal Northern College of Music, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Our sincere gratitude goes to every student, whose passion and courage have shaped the spirit of this remarkable year, and to every educator, whose wisdom and dedication have unlocked limitless possibilities for growth.
