01 Rowing, Sailing and Swimming – All-in-One Experience
This course offers a systematic and scientifically designed training programme for adventurous students, unlocking three core water sports—swimming, sailing and rowing. In swimming, students learn different strokes, diving, perfect turns, and experience the excitement of real competitions. Rowing, a classic British sport, progresses from land-based rowing machine fitness training and mastering basic techniques to on-water adaptation and refining rowing skills, helping students build a complete skill set. Sailing sessions take place on West Taihu Lake, where under the guidance of professional coaches, students steer, hoist sails and harness the breeze, experiencing the thrill of navigating wind and waves.
02 Theory Meets Practice for Performance Progression
Campers develop real-time experience and adaptability through competitive swimming races, rowing matchups, and simulated sailing scenarios, refining specific skills to address challenges encountered during training. Emphasising both theory and practice, the course integrates cutting-edge sports science with interdisciplinary knowledge, enabling students to understand human biomechanics, water sport dynamics, and to design scientific training plans, strategies and injury-prevention techniques—ensuring safe and steady progress in athletic ability.
03 English Immersion and Enrichment
Beyond water training, the course offers English-immersion enrichment courses covering STEM, music, cooking and team-building games. Lessons are designed around water sports themes, with targeted tasks in English writing, speaking, and sport-specific vocabulary, helping students improve language use in authentic contexts. Within an international camp environment, students develop both sporting skills and cross-cultural communication, achieving growth in athletic competence and academic abilities simultaneously.

01 Fully Immersive English Environment
The course is taught by native English-speaking teachers, enabling students to acquire authentic, practical spoken English and become familiar with current, everyday language use. Through this, they learn to understand and respond confidently in daily communication. In addition, students have the opportunity to take part in sports, arts, design and technology courses delivered entirely in English, gaining continuous exposure to the language and meaningful practice that leads to real improvement.
02 Application-Focused Thematic Teaching
The course adopts a thematic approach to teaching. We do not encourage rote memorisation; instead, we believe that using the language is the most effective way to learn it. Within an overarching theme, each day introduces a focused sub-theme, explored through a variety of English-medium activities such as vocabulary development, arts and crafts, discussion workshops and mini theatre. Immersed in engaging and meaningful topics, students are able to deepen their learning and achieve greater progress in English with confidence and enjoyment.
03 Level-Based Instruction
Prior to the start of the camp, students’ English proficiency will be assessed, and teaching groups will be formed based on the results. For learners who require additional support, the course focuses on strengthening core foundations such as vocabulary, sentence structure and verb tenses. For students with a stronger base, project-based learning is incorporated to develop the integrated application of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

01 Introduction to Automotive Design and Engineering
Automotive engineering is an interdisciplinary field that combines technology and aesthetics, balancing functionality with creativity. Teachers go beyond a purely technical explanation, using a “design-driven engineering” approach. They introduce core technical knowledge—such as internal combustion engine principles, mechanical structures, engineering thermodynamics, and technical drawing—in an accessible way, while also analysing the aerodynamic logic of vehicle design, the visual branding principles of car logos, and the balance of functionality and aesthetics in team uniform design. This helps students understand that design is not merely decorative, but a core component that complements engineering, fostering dual awareness of both technical and aesthetic considerations.
02 From Creative Design to Hands-On Practice
During the design phase, teams collaborate to complete exterior sketches, logo concepts, and the design and colour schemes of team uniforms. In the practical phase, students use real automotive equipment and tools to assemble and fine-tune racing cars, mastering essential skills such as tool management and vehicle adjustment. Throughout the process, they not only learn to optimise vehicle performance through iterative testing but also develop comprehensive skills in creative expression, teamwork, and problem-solving through collaboration in groups of ten.
03 Exploring the Future Automotive Industry
Today’s automotive industry goes far beyond technical iteration, focusing increasingly on design innovation and brand expression—from the futuristic styling of new energy vehicles to the branding elements of customised models. Design has become a key driving force in the sector’s development. In this two-week experiential course, students not only engage with core automotive engineering technologies but also gain insight into the interdisciplinary ecosystem of “technology + design” within the industry. This unique experience helps them develop a comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering, industrial design, brand strategy and other specialised areas, planting the seeds of interest for future study and career pathways in related fields.
8. Performing Arts Camp
Open to:
Current G3-G9
Course Date:
July 6-July 17
Campus:
Nanjing
Course Type:
12 Day Full Boarding
01 Professional Performing Arts Training
Students will have the opportunity to learn a range of professional skills, including singing in performance, storytelling and improvisation, script delivery and voice training, movement and rhythm exercises, character understanding and acting with partners, and the role of costume, makeup and props in character development—guiding them into the world of performing arts.
02 Developing Transferable Skills
WASNJ implements Drama in Education, which differs from Drama Education aimed at training professional actors. Drama in Education does not focus on performing or studying scripts for their own sake; instead, it uses role-play, theatre activities and theatre awareness as teaching tools, aiming to cultivate transferable skills such as confidence, creativity and collaboration.
03 Onstage and Backstage Experience
Beyond stage performance, students also gain practical experience in theatre management, including sound control, mixing, lighting, props, and stage coordination. This provides a full-spectrum experience of the creative process both onstage and behind the scenes, allowing every student to discover the “stage” where they can truly shine.
9. Immersive Chinese Language Course
Open to:
Young people aged 11–17 with an English proficiency of CEFR B1 or above
Course Date:
July 6-July 17
Campus:
Hangzhou | Nanjing
Course Type:
12 Day Full Boarding
This course is specifically designed for overseas students, staffed with high-quality teachers and professional guidance, and implements level-based instruction. By combining exploration of modern China with experiences of traditional culture, it helps students overcome challenges in learning Chinese, efficiently improve their listening and speaking skills, and appreciate the richness of Chinese language and culture through cross-cultural interaction. Upon completion, participants can also receive authoritative YCT/HSK Chinese language certification.
01 Expert Teaching Team
WAS offers HSK courses year-round, as well as A Level and IGCSE Chinese as a Second Language, supported by a mature Chinese-as-a-foreign-language teaching system. This camp is taught by full-time WAS Chinese teachers, many of whom hold degrees in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. With solid professional knowledge and extensive cross-cultural teaching experience, they understand international students’ learning characteristics and cognitive patterns, using personalised approaches to spark interest and ensure high-quality instruction.
02 Immersive Language Environment
We break the boundaries of traditional classrooms to create a fully immersive Chinese environment. During breaks and extracurricular activities, international students interact closely with native-speaking teachers and peers, using the language naturally in authentic communication. Structured evening activities further reinforce the day’s learning, making Chinese learning practical and part of everyday life. On weekends, students explore Chinese city streets and neighbourhoods, experiencing the language’s practicality and vitality first-hand.
03 Deep Cultural Experience
Language learning is inseparable from cultural immersion. Each afternoon, 1–2 cultural activities such as calligraphy, traditional painting, Hanfu, and tea ceremonies are arranged, allowing students to appreciate the cultural context behind the language while practising listening and speaking. Weekend off-campus study visits focus on cultural exploration, taking students to historical sites and museums to experience China’s culture comprehensively, build cultural awareness, stimulate interest, and enhance cross-cultural communication skills.
