Last week, in the 5SC class of Grade 5 at WASCZ, the classroom dynamic was turned upside down as our students stepped into the shoes of their teachers for a very special day of peer-led learning. With excitement, preparation, and a touch of nerves, our young educators showcased not only their academic knowledge but also their leadership, confidence, and creativity.
E. Liang and M. Jiang kicked off the morning as our Math Teachers, guiding their classmates through a hands-on exploration of circles and sectors. With clarity and enthusiasm, they utilised visual aids and practical examples to bring geometric concepts to life.
In Global Perspectives, S. Huang and L. Zhang took us on an engaging journey into the Roman Empire. Their interactive lesson invited classmates to think critically about history and its influence on the modern world, sparking thoughtful questions and lively discussion.
Meanwhile, C. Wu and S. Rao led an English writing session focused on how to write an informational text. Through modelling, step-by-step guidance, and peer collaboration, they helped their classmates structure their ideas effectively and use facts to support their writing.
W. Steven-Barry and E. Zhang brought literature to life as they introduced the class to the world of William Shakespeare. Their English Literature lesson included engaging storytelling and even a touch of theatrical flair.
Rounding off the day, K. Mushapaidzi and I. Zhang turned our Library Lesson into a fun, warm, and inclusive experience. They read aloud to the class and led games that helped students appreciate the joy of reading and discover new stories.
It was a day filled with creativity, teamwork, and mutual respect. Watching our students take ownership of their learning and share it with others was a proud moment for all of us. Their efforts were a true reflection of the skills we’ve been nurturing all year—confidence, communication, and collaboration.
