As the new academic year approaches, WASCZ once again welcomes an important milestone in its educational journey. With the first cohort of International Scholars having successfully embarked on their studies at prestigious universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, and NYU, the second cohort has also spent a full and enriching year here. The stories of the third cohort of International Scholars students are now set to begin a new chapter at WASCZ.
This year, seven outstanding students from the United Kingdom, selected through the rigorous Wycombe Abbey International Scholarship Programme, will officially join the WASCZ community in September. They will learn and grow alongside local students, sharing experiences and writing their own chapters of youthful endeavour.
Every year, the Wycombe Abbey International China Scholarship Programme selects several talented scholars to study at its campuses in WASCZ. These scholars benefit from an international curriculum seamlessly integrated with rich experiences of Chinese culture. They engage in meaningful interactions with local students, fostering cross-cultural understanding and growth. This unique platform allows Chinese and international students to learn from one another, make shared progress, and develop a deeper global perspective.
Each of these seven overseas students brings unique strengths: they pursue academic excellence, enjoy a wide range of sports, embrace new challenges with courage, and hold a deep interest in Chinese culture and language. The fusion of cross-cultural exchange and diverse perspectives promises to spark fresh energy and limitless possibilities within the WAS community.

C. Prime is from London, UK. He loves Brazilian jiu-jitsu and rugby, having trained in jiu-jitsu for two years, achieving a third-level belt and competing in various tournaments. He also participates actively in a local rugby club and the Kent Youth League. Inspired by ultra-endurance athlete David Goggins, he believes in the power of mental strength to overcome obstacles. Academically, Mandarin is one of his strongest subjects; he has passed HSK Level 3 and looks forward to further developing his language and cultural understanding in China. At WASCZ, he aims to complete his A Levels successfully and continue expanding his academic and cross-cultural horizons.
F. Croft
F. Croft comes from Oxfordshire, UK. She has been involved in scouting since the age of six, cultivating confidence and independence through challenges and adventures, including expeditions in the Swedish archipelago, skiing in Switzerland, and earning the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award in Edinburgh. Inspired by British sailor Ellen MacArthur and her mother, she continually strives to strengthen resilience, leadership, and social responsibility, actively engaging in volunteer work and community service. Her academic goal is medicine; she is studying Biology and Chemistry, and plans to continue Mathematics or Economics while also learning Chinese to broaden her cross-cultural perspective. Beyond academics, she enjoys music and sports, is working towards her piano qualifications, and actively participates in the school orchestra and choir. Through volunteering in the Explorers Club, she has developed patience and leadership skills, aiming for well-rounded growth at WASCZ and a strong foundation for entry into a Russell Group university, as well as a future in medicine.
L. Pistacchi
L. Pistacchi hails from Rome, Italy, and demonstrates creativity and resilience in both academics and extracurricular activities. She has won school workshop competitions and various sports awards, cultivating a determined and positive mindset when facing challenges. Inspired by her mother’s perseverance and kindness, she has learned to view setbacks as opportunities for growth. At WASCZ, she plans to further develop her English and academic skills, with a particular focus on the arts, while cultivating independence and confidence to prepare for higher-level academic and personal challenges.
M. Arnold
M. Arnold comes from Kent, UK, and is a diligent, well-rounded student. She has maintained excellent academic results and served as class representative for two consecutive years, earning the trust of both teachers and peers. She is actively involved in the local Mandarin Cultural Club and History Society, demonstrating a passion for multicultural learning. Outside the classroom, she has studied various dance forms from a young age, served as the “girls’ leader” at the Performing Arts Academy, and participated in musical theatre and choir, cultivating artistic appreciation and teamwork. M. Arnold demonstrates responsibility, creativity, and leadership across academics, arts, and community involvement, and we look forward to seeing her flourish further at WASCZ.
O. Sun
O. Sun is from Essex, UK. Once shy and less confident, he has developed strong interpersonal skills and a balance between academics and extracurricular activities through volunteering in charity shops and receiving customer service training. His mother—independent, resilient, and warm—has been a lifelong inspiration, teaching him perseverance, goal-setting, and compassion. At WASCZ, he aims to excel academically, actively participate in competitions and extracurricular activities, enhance his athletic, leadership, and communication skills, and contribute to the school community, cultivating both personal growth and social responsibility.
T. Gabriel
T. Gabriel comes from Birmingham, UK. From a young age, she has been fascinated by outer space and passionate about science and exploration, with a dream of working at NASA. A passionate physics teacher in secondary school inspired her love of the subject and became a role model, motivating her to pursue her goals. Over the past few years, she has developed skills in mathematics, music, and languages, applying them in both her academic studies and daily life. At WASCZ, she hopes to step out of her comfort zone, continually challenge herself, explore new experiences, and achieve comprehensive growth in both academic and personal development.
