House Unison is an annual, student-led, House Singing Competition. This year’s House Unison will be held on 20th December! In this event, under the guidance of House staff, students take responsibility for decision-making. Their creative thinking is truly impressive, leading to the production of high-quality performances. The awards for this year’s theme of ‘Disney’ include Best Boys’ House, Best Girls’ House, Best Overall House and the Backstage Award.
House unison enhances our students’ collaboration skills by encouraging them to work together. Their speaking skills and confidence are strengthened as they are responsible for introducing their song choices and houses before performing. Additionally, team spirit and creative skills are prominently displayed as each house competes for the trophy.
The Unison theme changes annually. Last year, each house was permitted to choose two songs from the 2000s. This year’s theme is centred around Disney, and we are eagerly anticipating witnessing our students breathe life into the most iconic Disney songs, which is sure to be a thrilling experience for all.
One exciting aspect of this year is the students’ level of engagement. Their enthusiastic preparations are a testament to their dedication and a source of pride for us. With many colourful costumes and props on order, each house is putting in extra effort to ensure that its costumes outshine its competitors.
The House Unison event exemplifies the team spirit of our boarding system, with each house showcasing its unique identity through its performances, displaying house colours and flags prominently throughout the show. Every student gains a strong sense of belonging to their house, fostering a friendly yet competitive atmosphere. This camaraderie strengthens our school community’s unity and pride.
Coming up on 20th December, the event promises to be one of the highlights of the extra-curricular calendar. We look forward to welcoming you to the excitement!
We will build upon its success by expanding this competition even beyond its current position as one of our most significant and best house events.
