Autumn is the perfect season for outdoor adventures, and we recently enjoyed a wonderful day at Jianong Farm for our annual Autumn Trip. The whole WASCZ Kindergarten joined in, from our youngest KG1 explorers to our confident KG3 learners, for a day filled with discovery, laughter and hands-on experiences in nature.
We all began the day with a cheerful welcome and rhythmic gymnastics session. The sun shone brightly making it the perfect day for outdoor adventures.
Our K1 classes’ first activity was making soybean milk, a fun and sensory experience that allowed children to see how traditional foods are made. The children found the milk so delicious and all asked to drink more!
They also created beautiful plant stamp art, by collecting flowers outside and sticking them to fabric. They then hammered the flowers to leave the colourful stain on the fabric. The children loved making such a loud noise whilst creating beautiful pieces of art!
The K2 children took part in a fascinating tie-dye workshop, experiencing the beauty of traditional handicrafts and expressing their creativity through colour and pattern. They had to tie fabric with elastic bands and then squirt the blue traditional dye. When we removed the elastic bands, we could see the wonderful patterns created.
One of the highlights for K2 was the sweet potato digging activity, a true hands-on farming experience! The children loved exploring the soil, finding the hidden sweet potatoes and learning where food really comes from.
Our oldest Kindergarten group, K3, focused on traditional skills and craftsmanship. Children tried straw weaving and created their own mini scarecrows, learning about rural life and the role of farmers in caring for crops.
They also enjoyed tofu making and soy milk tasting, discovering how everyday foods are made through teamwork and patience. The best part was trying the warm tofu that had been made by our students!
During lunch in the Grand Hall, our learners were excited to open their freshly prepared lunch bags containing nutritious food to fuel them with energy for the afternoon. After lunch, classes explored various activities at the farm – the large rainbow slide, the miniature train, the biology museum and a pirate ship ride!
The Jianong Farm visit was more than just a day out, it was a celebration of learning beyond the classroom. Through hands-on experiences, traditional crafts and outdoor exploration, our children developed curiosity, teamwork and appreciation for nature and agriculture.
We are so proud of our Kindergarten students for their enthusiasm, independence and for being incredibly responsible throughout the day. Thank you to all our teachers and for the staff at Jianong Farm who made this trip such a memorable experience for every child.
