To help our K3 children take confident steps toward lower school life, our school organised a meaningful series of “Kindergarten to Lower School Transition” activities throughout May and June. These thoughtfully designed experiences aimed to gently bridge the gap between early childhood and formal schooling by introducing children to the lower environment, encouraging curiosity, boosting self-confidence, and preparing them emotionally and socially for the next chapter in their educational journey.
A Joyful Journey of Discovery
Exploring Their Future Learning Space
Our young learners began their Lower School Transition experience by exploring the lower school campus. Guided by teachers, they visited the lower school classrooms. This immersive experience gave them a sense of place, helping them envision themselves as future lower school students.
Meeting the Teachers: Building Trust Through Connection
To further break the ice, the children participated in fun and friendly meet-and-greet sessions with the lower school teachers. They were encouraged to ask questions about daily routines, learning subjects and school rules. The teachers answered with patience and smiles, offering encouragement and sharing positive stories. This opportunity helped build trust and reduce the fear of the unknown.
Children got to join real lower school lessons, covering subjects such as Maths, English, Science and Art. Experiencing these structured lessons firsthand helped children understand how lower school learning feels different from play-based kindergarten, while still being exciting and engaging.
Buddy Time: Grade 1 & Kindergarten Pair-Up
One of the most heartwarming activities was the “Buddy Time”, where each K3 student was paired with a friendly Grade 1 buddy. The older students shared their own experiences—how they felt on their first day of school, what their favourite subjects are, and how they organise their schoolbags!
A Confident Step Forward
These well-planned, meaningful activities not only helped reduce anxiety and uncertainty among our children but also fostered a sense of excitement and anticipation. Children now looking forward to stepping confidently into their first day of lower school.
Let’s Celebrate This Milestone
This smooth and thoughtful transition marks a significant milestone in our students’ learning journey. We are so proud of every child who participated with courage and curiosity. We believe they are now well-prepared to begin their exciting new chapter in lower school. Let’s cheer for their bright futures ahead!
