What is a schoo’s greatest asset? It’s not the grand buildings or state-of-the-art facilities, but the teachers themselves.
At WASCZ, our educators are catalysts for intellectual curiosity, mentors who nurture resilience and integrity, and companions on the transformative journey of growth. Through their unwavering dedication, they inspire students to seek meaning beyond textbooks, to challenge assumptions, and to cultivate the courage to shape their own futures.
Upholding the philosophy of holistic education, WASCZ has assembled a teaching team that combines global perspectives with deep professional expertise, laying a strong foundation for students to reach the world’s top universities. To date, we employ over 200 teaching staff, featuring a 1:1 ratio of Chinese to international teachers and an impressive 1:5 teacher-to-student ratio. Our faculty’s average teaching experience exceeds 11 years, with over half of them boasting more than a decade in education.
Outstanting Academic Results
In this year’s recent A Level results, WASCZ 2025 graduates once again achieved outstanding success, a strong testament to the school’s excellence in both academic development and holistic education. An impressive 82% of grades were at A-B*, with 61% at A-A*, and 19 subjects achieved a 100% pass rate.
With such remarkable achievements, the Class of 2025 has secured offers from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, as well as prestigious global institutions including Imperial College London, University College London, the University of Melbourne, the University of Toronto, New York University, Penn State University, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. In addition, many graduates will continue their studies at world-renowned arts conservatoires and universities such as the University of the Arts London, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, School of Visual Arts New York, Berklee College of Music, Royal Northern College of Music, and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Over the past decade, our dedicated teachers have guided WASCZ students to top universities around the world. Our ten cohorts of graduates have achieved remarkable success. All of our graduates have been admitted to top global universities, with 35% gaining admission to the Top 25 by QS ranking, achieving the full sweep of the UK’s G5 universities. Their destinations include Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, UCL, the University of Melbourne, University of Toronto, HKU, NYU, UAL, and the Royal Northern College of Music. This track record of success demonstrates the effectiveness of our program in preparing students for top universities and a wide range of academic disciplines.
With the arrival of the new academic year, a new chapter unfolds—one that builds on the past while looking firmly to the future. Excitingly, WASCZ welcomes two new members to its leadership team. With a clear vision and steadfast commitment, they will guide the school to new heights in delivering a truly holistic education——
David Fosu
Executive Head of Upper School
Since joining WASCZ in 2023, Mr Fosu has played a pivotal role in developing the school’s teacher evaluation system and professional development programmes. His innovative contributions have already been recognised and adopted by our sister schools. With his dedication and vision, he has made a profound impact on our community. We are confident that, under his leadership, the Senior School will continue to flourish and reach new heights in education.
The new academic year will see Mr Fosu leading our efforts to establish a world-class professional development system for WASCZ teachers, as excellence in teaching drives excellence in learning — further ensuring that our students consistently receive nothing less than the very best.
Kristan Proudman
Deputy Head Pastoral
Mr Proudman brings with him extensive management experience from schools in the UK, the US, and China, with particular expertise in boarding. His leadership will provide vital momentum for the continued enhancement of our pastoral care and boarding system. He will guide our professional boarding team in supporting each House, ensuring that every student can thrive in a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment.
In the new academic year, he will spearhead a series of initiatives to enhance boarding and holistic pastoral care. These include an orientation programme that integrates both boarding life and academic preparation, designed to help our diverse student body—from different regions and countries—settle smoothly into school life and build lasting friendships. Through the academic tutor system, close attention will be given to each student’s academic journey and personal growth, while ensuring effective communication between school and families. At the same time, initiatives such as the Weekend Wycombe Abbey House Cup will be introduced, fostering healthy competition among Houses and nurturing teamwork, collaboration, and leadership.
“I hope to nurture both confidence and empathy in our students. It is my vision to see them embody strong educational values and resilience, to represent the spirit of the school with pride, and to face the challenges of the future with poise—growing into global-minded leaders of tomorrow.”
This year, we are delighted to welcome a new cohort of outstanding educators from around the world. Our 19 new teachers bring with them an average of over 9 years of teaching experience and strong academic backgrounds, adding fresh energy to our holistic educational environment. Through cross-cultural training, they have integrated into the WASCZ community, joining in team-building and professional learning to strengthen our shared commitment to holistic education.

How Are Outstanding Teachers Made?
In the long journey of life, teachers are the guides who light the way. As we celebrate the remarkable university offers achieved year after year, our gaze also turns to the exceptional teaching team at WASCZ—those who quietly stand behind every success, supporting and uplifting each student in their growth and breakthroughs. This team comprises outstanding educators from around the globe, each bringing diverse educational backgrounds and cultural perspectives. They are not only guides in the classroom but also mentors and inspirers on every pupil’s path of growth.
But how are such outstanding teachers shaped? Each year, WASCZ organises a comprehensive programme of professional training to support teachers in growing and refining their skills. From subject teaching to student wellbeing, from interdisciplinary integration to educational innovation, our staff engage in a wide range of courses, lectures, and practical activities that allow them to develop both breadth and depth. Through these opportunities for learning and exchange, they not only integrate quickly into the Wycombe Abbey community but also strengthen their academic expertise, creativity in teaching, and warmth in pastoral care.
In addition, the school regularly invites internationally renowned education experts to deliver lectures and workshops, fostering dialogue and collaboration while introducing the latest global educational philosophies and practices into the classroom. It is this continuous professional development and international exchange that keep our teaching team vibrant and innovative, ensuring that our students receive a truly high-quality, personalised, and holistic educational experience.
Education is a process through which individuals are guided and inspired by others. Whether through classroom instruction, university mentorship, research initiatives, or providing boarding care, psychological support, and fostering potential, the WASCZ teaching team consistently prioritises student development, demonstrating commitment and professionalism in cultivating talent.
Over the past decade, this evolving team has played a pivotal role in both witnessing and shaping the progress of WASCZ’s educational mission. With the continued guidance and support of these educators, we are confident that our students will be well-prepared to pursue global opportunities and strive for excellence without boundaries.
