Dear Parents & Students,
It gives me great joy to welcome you to the start of a new school year at WASCZ. Whether your family is returning or joining us for the first time, we are delighted you are part of our community. Each new year brings fresh opportunities for every child to grow, achieve, and flourish.
We are deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in us. At WASCZ, education is about more than academics; it is about nurturing curiosity, resilience, compassion, and well-being. Together, we will ensure every child thrives both in and beyond the classroom.
What’s New This Year
Over the summer, we upgraded our senior boarding houses with bright, new common areas. These are modern spaces where students can work, relax, and enjoy life together as a boarding family.
We have also begun installing solar panels across campus, taking another step toward sustainability, alongside developing our Forest School area to connect students with nature in mindful, environmentally conscious ways.
Enrichment & Opportunities
Our ECA programme continues to grow. Alongside robotics, horse riding, and the Tycoon entrepreneurship club, we are launching F1 in Schools for the first time, bringing more dynamic and engaging learning options to our pupils.
We are also very excited about partnering with ProEd, a UK-based career insight organisation, which will connect our students in G10-12 with leading professionals and academics at G5 universities, offering them early exposure to pathways in medicine, business, law, psychology, engineering, and more.
Investing in Our People
We warmly welcome new leaders to our team: Mr Proudman (Deputy Head Pastoral) and Mr Fosu (Head of Upper School), together with a group of outstanding teachers who bring international expertise.
All staff have recently engaged in professional development with Tom Bennett, the UK Government’s advisor on behaviour and culture, while our Kindergarten team trained with the renowned Forest School programme, ensuring our teachers begin the year inspired and ready.
Throughout the year, we remain deeply committed to providing continuous professional development for our staff, empowering them to refine their craft and stay at the forefront of educational practice. This year, our middle management leaders are embarking on a year-long coaching and mentorship programme designed specifically for their professional growth. Meanwhile, we continue to broaden learning opportunities for all teachers through a blend of in-house trainings led by our resident experts and diverse external workshops and conferences across China and beyond.
We believe that educators must never stop learning, and our academic team’s commitment to ongoing development ensures that every child at WASCZ continues to benefit from the world-class education they deserve.
Looking Ahead
As we begin the year, we encourage every student to live by our values of responsibility, compassion, and resilience. With these, and with your support, each young person will excel not only academically but also as confident, caring, and globally minded individuals.
Thank you for being part of the WASCZ family. With the dedication of staff, parents, and students, I know this year will bring remarkable achievements, wonderful memories, and a strong sense of belonging.
