From July 19th to July 21st, the “Collaborative Innovation, Steady Progress” Joint Conference of Southeast Asian Confucius Institutes, hosted by the Chinese International Education Foundation, was successfully held at the Beijing International Conference Center. Nearly 300 representatives from Confucius Institutes (Classrooms) from 10 Southeast Asian countries, as well as representatives from Sino-foreign cooperative institutions, including WAS , gathered to share experiences in running Confucius Institutes and explore new visions for Chinese learning cooperation between China and foreign countries.
Mr. William Vanbergen introduced to the attendees that WAS incorporates the essence of both Chinese and Western cultures, offering 20 to 30 different A-Level course options. International students studying at WAS will have the opportunities to sail towards renowned universities worldwide or apply for top Chinese universities such as Tsinghua and Peking University.
Great minds think alike, during the Panel Discussion on the opening day, Mohamed Sharil Bin Mohamed Shamsudin, Education Counselor of the Malaysian Embassy in China, also advocated for major universities to provide scholarship support to students from various countries, encouraging them to study in China. These students will integrate their own cultures into Chinese culture, reducing friction and misunderstandings while promoting cultural understanding. In the future, they will become representatives of friendship, bridging diplomacy and cooperation between nations.
It is hoped that every student can grow into a knowledgeable and upright “whole person,” embarking on a mission to change the world and benefit society while exploring the ultimate value of self. Therefore, the establishment of “The Belt and Road” Scholarship and cooperation with Confucius Institutes are both new starting points, and in the future, there will be countless exciting opportunities to help Chinese and foreign students set sail and embark on a broad and fulfilling journey of life at Wycombe Abbey.
