The Orca class in Grade 5 has been hard at work exploring ancient civilizations in their Understanding the World class. Over the course of the semester, the students delved deeply into the cultures and histories of Ancient Greece, Ancient China, and Ancient Egypt, and explored the similarities and differences between these fascinating societies.
Throughout their studies, the students had the opportunity to examine ancient artefacts, maps, and replicas of historical sites, as well as to create their own artefacts, inspired by the ancient civilizations about which they were learning. Using the knowledge they gained in class, the students worked together to prepare a museum exhibition to showcase their work to the rest of the school.
But the exhibition was not just about displaying the students’ work. It was also an opportunity for them to share their knowledge and teach their peers about what they had learned. The students took turns giving short presentations, answering questions, and guiding visitors through the exhibition.
We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication of the students in the Orca class, and we look forward to seeing what other exciting projects they will take on in the future. This project was a testament to the importance of hands-on learning and the power of student-led projects to foster creativity, curiosity, and a love of learning.
Congratulations, Orcas!
