From the very first encounter with a musical instrument to the unfolding of limitless possibilities for growth, at WASCZ we regard music education as an integral part of every student’s developmental journey. Especially during the early years — a golden period for growth — those small hands just beginning to hold a bow, and that innate curiosity so finely attuned to sound, form the perfect foundation for musical discovery.
KG One-to-One Instrumental Music Programme
The Performing Arts Department recently hosted a Coffee Morning, offering parents a valuable opportunity to learn more about our one-to-one instrumental music programme for Kindergarten students. During the session, families were introduced to the structure and philosophy behind the programme, which is designed to provide each child with a personalised and engaging learning experience. Through individual lessons, students are able to learn at their own pace, supported by a nurturing environment that encourages confidence, curiosity and enjoyment.
For our Kindergarten students, the programme currently offers four instruments: violin, cello, piano and ukulele. These instruments have been carefully selected for their suitability for young learners, taking into account their physical development and the importance of early success in producing sound. This thoughtful selection allows children to build coordination and fine motor skills while developing a natural connection with music.
The session was led by Ms Perez (Violin), Ms Wadkin (Piano), and Mr Wadkin (Cello), whose extensive experience in international education and early childhood learning ensures that each lesson is both structured and child-centred. Their approach combines clear progression with playful, age-appropriate activities, creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
At WASCZ, we have always believed that the true warmth of education lies in each moment that sparks inspiration. Beginning with the study of an instrument, we guide students to listen, to persevere, to express, and to embrace their passions. In doing so, every child is empowered to find their own voice through rhythm and melody.
