2026 SPEAR’S
With the release of The Spear’s Schools Index 2026, WASCZ and its UK sister school, Wycombe Abbey UK, have both been named among the Top 100 Independent Schools in the World. Notably, WASCZ is the only school in Chinese Mainland to feature on the list—an accolade that recognises the school’s outstanding educational quality and underscores the global impact of the Wycombe Abbey education model.
The Spear’s Schools Index
Published by the European wealth management magazine Spear’s, this ranking is designed to provide high-net-worth families with authoritative guidance on high-quality education. Now in its seventh consecutive year, the index goes beyond academic achievement, placing strong emphasis on the cultural heritage, pastoral care, and international reputation valued by globally minded families. It has become a trusted benchmark for school selection worldwide.
The continued recognition from this prestigious global ranking is strongly reflected in WASCZ’s consistently outstanding university outcomes. The Class of 2026 has once again achieved a clean sweep across the UK’s G5 Group universities, securing offers from University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, The London School of Economics and Political Science, and University College London.
To date, the Class of 2026 has received 310+ offers from leading universities worldwide, excelling across both comprehensive universities and the performing arts. With over 200 specialised subject areas represented—from Biomedical Sciences and Veterinary Medicine to Aerospace Engineering—these results highlight both strong academic foundations and clearly defined individual pathways. Their destinations span the UK, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and China Hong Kong, demonstrating a truly global outlook. With more offers still to come, WASCZ students continue to redefine their international competitiveness.
In this year’s ranking, Spear’s highlighted WASCZ for its achievements:
“WASCZ is the first sister school of Wycombe Abbey School in China. Taking the best from the UK and the Chinese curriculums, the school offers pupils a bilingual education, (I)GCSE and A-Level lessons and, ultimately, access to top universities around the world.
Learning continues beyond the classroom via sports, music, arts and drama courses, while the ‘super curriculum’ programme offers opportunities such as overseas trips, school exchanges and academic competitions. The school embraces Asian tradition too: there is a break for Lunar New Year in February and a dragon boat festival in June.
The newly renovated campus offers students a huge array of facilities, from a fully equipped theatre to a 10,000sq m sports dome and dedicated rowing centre.”
As a sister school of Wycombe Abbey UK, WASCZ inherits the same holistic education ethos, with both schools repeatedly appearing together on Spear’s annual list. Delegations from Wycombe Abbey UK visit WASCZ annually, engaging in in-depth academic exchanges and collaborative educational initiatives. From joint curriculum development to faculty mentorship, and from extending educational philosophy to integrating campus culture, the two schools maintain a close partnership, advancing students’ academic and character development and nurturing future leaders with both national commitment and international perspective.
We extend our warmest congratulations to WASCZ and its sister school, Wycombe Abbey UK, on this remarkable achievement! Building on this milestone, WASCZ will continue to pioneer holistic education, exploring new avenues of innovation and excellence, and empowering every student to navigate challenges, pursue their passions, and embrace a brilliant future.
